Great video! I love fishing for big perch. There are some places in Sweden and Norway that you can fish very big perch too. If you are lucky and good and find the right spots to fish, you can catch perch up to 60 cm and maybe even a tad longer if you are really lucky. I have seen a 65 cm long perch, but that was caught with a net and not with a rod. There are some places in Sweden with brackish water were there can be huge numbers of good size to huge perch. In Norway there are not that number of huge perches as in Sweden, but if you know where to fish and when and how to fish them, you have a decent chance to hook a huge one. I saw in the video that the yellow body was the big catcher and that was no surprise at all. Yellow is usually a very good colour to use when the water is cold. Another color that can be great to use when the water is cold, is white. I was rather surprised when I didn't not see one proper white body in the tackle box in the video. White is usually the colour I start with when the water is cold, sometimes with an orange head/sinker in front. Pink and hot pink can also be killer colours when the water is cold. Then as the water starts to warm up a bit, I usually find yellow to be the best colour, and then later in the spring, I usually switch from a yellow to a yellow/green and then to a darker and darker green body. When the water starts to get warn, I usually find myself changing to and try a lot of different colours to find the right one for that day. Sometimes natural colours, like a roach or a bleak jig body, can be outstanding. Specially during the time the roach and bleak spawn. Just be prepared for lots of pike bites :)

5lbs uk is one hell of an achievement mate, where I am i can't seem to ever break the 3/3.5 pound mark. I've been after big perch for a long time now and the hardest thing about uk fishing Is finding decent stretches of river that aren't overgrown/unfishable because of weed.
@DjDolHaus865 жыл бұрын
@@pvegod1484 I was lucky enough to find a small lake that someone had released a handful of perch into about 15 yrs before and that first generation had grown huge by the time I chanced upon it. I caught a number of good 2's and 3's fairy quickly on small roach but the 5 came a year or so later during early March. It was a fairly difficult session with not so much as a panicked bait to speak of but I must have dropped it right on her nest as the next cast hammered round before I'd even had a chance to put the rod back on the rest. I thought it was a carp at first based on the bite and how hard it was digging for the tree roots but my knees turned to jelly when this great big football of a perch surfaced in the margins. After a few more nerve-wracking dives I finally slipped the net under her and admired my prize. She was clearly fit to burst with spawn and you could see it dribbling our the vent so I knew I had to get her back quickly. I left the net in the water and went to find my weighing gear but found I'd left my sling at home, luckily I had my scales and so weighed the fish in the net (5lb 2oz after subtracting the net). Unfortunately my other rod chose to go into meltdown and so with no other option I had to drop the fish back into the pond before I could get a picture. Talk about devastated. Who'd believe my tale of monster perch with no witnesses or evidence? Well to cut a long story slightly shorter I caught the same fish later in the autumn at 4lb 10oz and managed to get a pic and a witness so all well that ends well. Ive returned in more recent years and there seems to be a lot more perch in there now but of a much more reasonable size with 2-3 lbs being a far more likely catch. Just got lucky and was in the right place at the right time but that's often all it takes.

Fantastically entertaining and well made video to commemorate what was clearly a great trip. This type of fishing reminds me of Largemouth Bass fishing on American Lakes... a wonderful exciting way to fish. Thanks for posting

Amazing again.......your guide has my facial tan at the end of a summer season too..... sunglasses....Lol. I love perch, don't fish for them but remember being the lake record holder for a while in my teens for a two and a half pound beauty caught by accident whilst fishing for tench at Westwood Park (sadly no longer fishable) near Droitwich, Worcester.
