Learn where to catch speckled trout and redfish in my course Fall Fish Location: www.lafbelite.com/ffl/
Where can we find speckled trout and redfish after Hurricane Sally? Join me as I launch out of Hopedale, Louisiana to see what the storm surge left inside the marsh.
Yes, the water got high as the storm surge from Hurricane Sally was strong, but we never saw anything more than that during the storm as she stayed just east of us.
The first day I could get out to go see what's out there is the day you see in this video.
I launched from Hopedale Marina (formerly Breton Sound Marina) to do what I could with a rising tide, but what I really wanted to take advantage of was the falling tide.
And that's because the white shrimp are on the move, and where we can find white shrimp we can find an easy bite of speckled trout.
But high tide isn't predicted to fall until way later in the day.
So the fishing trip was slightly challenging and tons of fun.
If you'd like to see exactly where I went fishing:

Hi Devin. Thanks again for the fish! Michael and I did catch some specks after you left. They were on the west side of the dam. It took catching 4 to keep 1. We also caught some bigger ones earlier in the morning on top water baits before you got to the dam. (The darn pelicans were going after the baits as well.) Thanks for the great videos. Keep 'em coming!

@@LAFishBlog Same here Devin. No we didn't see the hole in your pants. I would have definitely told you about it. I always told my classes to let me know if my fly was open, I had food caught in my teeth, smudge on my face, etc. Heading back down tomorrow to Hopedale by myself; Michael had to head back to Indiana. It should be a pretty day and hopefully a good fishing day. I really want to get on a good top water speckled trout bite.

Man, I covered a lot of water and that's what you don't see. That gas gauge was resting on E for a long time before the boat was finally put back on the trailer. But, few people want to watch someone grind and get his ass kicked for hours on end. LOL I was happy to at least have limited out on redfish, but I think it was too soon for the trout. What else was really weird was the lack of seagulls. There were practically no birds anywhere in the marsh. Strange.

Falling because the season calls for it..The time hasn't changed yet,so a week or two after this occurs you never have to rush to get out on the water for the rest of the year due to the water coming in mainly in the evening time
@LAFishBlog
@LAFishBlog 3 жыл бұрын
That's not true. What time the tide falls is on a cycle (I forget how long it is) that causes the timing of a falling tide to be at different times of the day. I've got years of fishing reports showing this, in fact you only need to look it up. That and the tide falls differently across the state of Louisiana, and moves differently through variously shaped bodies of water.

Hey Randy, thanks for commenting! I agree, it's very easy to stay out there all day and just enjoy being on the water. It's so peaceful. That video I made will get you there no problem. For anyone reading this who is interested to know what video we are talking about it is this one right here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKCWgJt8iLamiqs Anyway, Delacroix and Reggio have changed a lot with all the high river water and Mardi Grass Pass and what not. Fishing Hopedale could be a good move for you, it's really not that far. Good luck, and be sure to post a fishing report in our Facebook group if you do go: facebook.com/groups/154496828630117/

I live in fla so we can only keep 1 redfish. I love hopedale fishing you can always find a bite. Tourney winners are scarce but not impossible. I use pro cure a lot I like it. You did make me laugh with the "another sticking redfish " comment. Most folks here would love the have a 5 fish limit. Trout are the by catch. Our numbers here suck but that's ok. I guess. Love the videos. I like it better there when the water is up. Thanks for the video. Keep em coming. If ya have any info about houma area I'm all ears.

I'd be fine with keeping one redfish if it meant we'd have a more abundant population to catch. I like finding and catching them more than eating them, if that makes sense. You know, it really depends on your needs and what you're using it for, and that's why I've created this guide to picking an excellent casting reel for inshore fishing: www.lafishblog.com/how-to-select-a-great-inshore-baitcaster/ However, I will tell you that a great all-around reel that will stand the test of time is a Daiwa Tatula 150 and, if you're looking for something smaller, the Daiwa Tatula 100. I also did a review on the Tatula SV, which is basically impossible to backlash. You can find that review here: www.lafishblog.com/daiwa-tatula-sv-review/ Thank you!
