Dog fish are nice to eat, it’s called rock eel in the southeast

hi guys , you should try eating the dog fish you catch ,they are very nice to eat , like cod but a slightly stronger taste , in the shops they are called rock salmon and quite expensive , would def recommend.

We are too far away for anyone on a budget but I’d love to see you in South Devon. Morgan Giles in Teignmouth (five miles from me) was one of the yards that built HDMLs during WW2. Sadly now long gone.

I did say Anglesey Puffin Island, but try fishing in the Bristol Channel at Lundy island, and the Holm islets, when that tide turns you get all the fast flowing fish hanging around and take sark gear with you

Here in Gloucester, Ma we have the Atlantic Spiny Dogfish but they are much bigger than what you are catching. Males grow up to 3.3 feet, and females grow up to 4 feet. When I get into an area where they bite I move on to another spot. Fun video, I call that a nice day on the water. Best Regards, Jay

That looked a wonderful day for you all! I used to go fishing but off of Penzance in Cornwall and we used to catch spur dog! Are the fish you catch young ones or a different type of fish? You boat sounds lovely when it is moving! How wonderful for you all! It is so nice to be on the water! 😉😊

that was actually a small spotted catshark, not a dogfish. edit: I guess they are called dogfish as well in the UK en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small-spotted_catshark

You need to get a species board up and running on your boat the various species will grow on you but every doggy you catch is a bonus and not a blank keep going keep safe and crack on

you should to get into 60 meters or more of water depth and get some bigger fish. once you get into the dogfish you might as well move to another spot

Small species like sand eel are taken for their fish oil and used as animal feed. This has knocked a hole in the food chain, affecting everything from cod to seabirds. To be fair UK banned the taking of sand eels in 2023. We need other countries around North Sea and British Isles to do the same.

@steveward60 I hope you have never eaten any fish products in your life then? They are doing catch and release. Commercial boats are different, there catch are usually squashed to death in the the net. The ones that do survive, are then gutted alive! I sea fish myself for over 40yrs, only take what I want to eat. If it's deep hooked and will not go back, it'll be used for bait!
