Whiting, on trawlers we called them hospital fish because the NHS bought all the whiting.

As mentioned , extend your anchor chain by at least 10 metres with the bitter end spliced to a saddle. From memory you should have your anchor line 2 1/2 times the depth of water. It is the chain lying on the seafloor that holds the vessel against the tidal flow.

Conger eels have strong bite with teeth angled backwards so once they get a grip, they are hard to release. Always wary of them on trawlers as they sit quietly in the catch waiting for a careless hand to get close. Nice to see that all the fish were released.

I did the night watch when my ship, the Manxman was moored at the end of the pier at Llandudno. During the night the mooring lines became snagged on the iron work jutting out from the pier. As I was trying to free the lines, the situation became worse. the incoming tide caused the ship to list towards the pier. my only choice was to slacken off the moorings but one line became so snagged that the list became worse. My only option was to slacken off the offending line and unknown to me the ship had raised the pier a couple of feet from it's base. As I slackened off the remaining line, the whole pier dropped a couple of feet with a mighty jolt. There was a resounding crescendo of breaking crockery emanating form the gift shop at the end of the pier. I often think about the poor gift shop owner opening up that morning and seeing the huge mess in view. I got away with it and kept my job but only by the skin of my teeth.

Separate gear levers are to enable the vessel to be steered by engines at low speed. The rudder is so small that using it at low speeds is almost impossible.

A lot of black smoke on full power. Check air filters first as most likely culprit. If not filters, could be worn out injectors or injector pump.

Who needs classes? I think Gemma has a knack for this metalwork and a proper talent as a spray painter. Maybe Simon should take lessons from her. Then he could become an expert! Good video. ajh

Firstly, I think that’s the best looking video you guys have done. Awesome drone shots, me and my daughter loved it. Secondly, awesome demo of how robust that boat is. Perfect for actual use, and perfect for all nobheads who can’t handle a boat and/or get pissed while doing it. Agree, excellent tender 👍

Poly boats are almost indestructible, they benefit from a Urethane keel guard for a bit of ablative cladding but there's nothing tougher. Sea Storm make some of the best p[ollys, they are not cheap but they are worth it, they are a step up from most others of the type.
