Fishing the Ramganga river, right out of our depth lure fishing and live baiting for the amazing Golden Masheer on the Ramganga river. John Gregory snags a beautiful fish on the lure first day as we are felling our way into the trip.

First few sentences made me lol John. Great to go try fishing in India. Overrated Angler goes international. Bloody hard fishing ay. Beautiful fish for sure. Different scenery, bird sounds, sweet mate. Nice one the Johns.

Way out of my depth mate, lure fishing is not something I have done much of and when you only have 5 casts in gin clear water fishing for super wary fish it was so nerve racking, hopefully do better next time.

It was some experience mate, just the scenery, wildlife and food were worth the trip, luckily for me as I fished like a crab!! lol

If you don’t mind me asking John how much was it for the 7 nights accommodation fishing and guides did u take your own tackle or use the guide s what rod size breaking strain etc did you use for the goonch and mahser thx

No mate, dont mind at all, the team we went with are about as cheap as we could find and it worked out around 200 pounds a day all in. We were advised to tip 10% of that to the team of 4 people with us making it around 220 pounds a day, inc travelling, accommodation, meals and soft drinks. You need to take all your own tackle though that is not provided. Was 15-30lb flurocarbon for the Masheer, 80lb mono and something I have never seen before called 200lb Diawa (I think) cracken hook lengths for the Goonch rods.

They are some fish mate, so strong for their size. I believe they are 50lb+ in that river, we seen some holding in the flow that would have been 35-40lb, amazing to see, so hard to catch.
