Just a bit of a run through of my Old Town Sportsman 106 Powered by Minn Kota fishing kayak and my basic fishing gear. I also Show how this short fat dude gets the 80 pound kayak to the roof racks lol.

It’s actually easier then it looked. Once the nose is up it slides right up. I’ll be getting it out this weekend and will show it again now that I have a practice run in lol. Thanks again for watching. Keep me posted if you decide to get a kayak. Maybe we get out and wash some lures one day. Cheers.

I also have the 106 Mk same color as yours, plus the 106 PDL. Before I owned 2, I placed my 1st purchase in the truck bed. Lower your tail gate, slide it in, strap it down and hang a red flag on your rudder for better visibility. So much easier and faster than placing it in your roof. Now that I own two, I purchased a trailer and just back it into the water and float them off.

I appreciate you checking it out. But If you check out a few of my videos you’ll see I normally have a camper set up in the bed of my truck so there is no room to slide the kayak in there

Nice video brother! I too just got Kayak a few months ago. Old Town Sportsman 120 PDL, loving it! I roof top it a few times on my other truck when I am not using the f150 pickup truck bed. If I can make a suggestion, I use a harbor freight moving blanket (super cheap) on the back of the truck I will be roof topping. I hang it over from the rack on the back. Keeps everything protected, even the glass from getting scratched. The kayak slides easily on this blanket. When starting. I would put the kayak on a 45 degree angle to the back of your truck,. ( The angle when you finished putting the kayak on the cart when you took it down). Lay the kayak flat on the floor with the stern lined up in the center of your truck. Keep the tailgate closed so you can get closer to your truck without bending awkward. Lift the kayak from the bow and bring it up above your head, (all the weight will be on the stern of the kayak) and walk the bow of the kayak to the top of your truck where the blanket will be. Should be easy on your back. Then lift the back of the kayak and push it up on the roof, you should be good! Hope this helps! Loving the video. Just subbed. ^5 Stay safe and be well!

A winch is on the list to get for the truck. Never thought about using it to.load the Kayak. I like the way you think lol. Thanks for the idea.

thanks for the video. I have the Old Town Sportsman Angler 106 (2x of them). Can you fit both kayaks on top of the truck? I don’t have a rack set up yet and put them in the bed but it’s clumsy and I’d like to get a rack.

Thanks for checking out the videos as for the rack I guess it would depend on how big of a rack you would get. I could barely maybe fit both kayaks on there maybe with a little bit of an overhang and I can’t remember the exact length of my racks, but I’m sure you could get a rack that they would fit two

You will have to rethink how to protect your transducer.. You are going to slam it onto the front roof rack putting it on.. And you are going to hit it again when you are resting it on the cab roof coming off..

I get what you’re saying. As of now I don’t have plans to mount a fish finder on the kayak as my plan is to keep it to the smaller lakes. I do have one on my bigger boat that I use quite often. If I did decide to have one on the kayak, I have seen transducers mounted inside the front of the haul which I’d probably go that way for the same reasons as you stated. Plus with the kayak getting dragged across rocks and stumps it would just get banged up over time. Appreciate your comment. Cheers !
