I'm upset that they closed the Lake. How can all the people crammed together in a store be more safe than being on my boat away from everyone on the Lake. Lake Mead is HUGE, what better place to have social distancing.

Cook up those shad, they are great eating, just have to mind the bones! Used to catch them by the 100 lbs burlap bag full when I was your age, growing up in Nova Scotia, Canada. They would run up the local rivers in the spring from the Bay of Fundy (Atlantic Ocean), and we would catch them at night in the dark using large dip nets (3' round) made of chicken wire, on long poles, that we would rest along the edge of the river edge with the open net facing downstream as the shad were migrating upstream following the rivers edge at night. When you felt a "bump" in your net, you'd lift it up as quickly as possible before the shad could swim out. Sometimes I'd have to call my Dad for help to lift it up, cause there could be up to 20 shad in there and it would me too heavy to lift by myself! I think I was 12 or 13 before my Dad took me out night fishing shad for the first time, cause you had to me big enough to handle the nets. Locals and my relatives still fish shad this way. We also fly fished shad. Great memories!!

33" 14 lbs striper was caught last Sunday on cut anchovies. Saw the fish myself. My son caught a 26" 5lbs 13oz fish in almost exactly the same spot a few days earlier.
