I’ve got the same boat with a Yamaha 90hp. I fish the east coast around Fort Pierce and Stuart. This boat handles great in the chop and doesn’t beat you to death.

The 162 Scouts are really awesome boats and are beginning to have a cult following somewhat. I wish I had the 90 on mine and probably will sometime in the future. I understand all the controls are the same.

I can get into less than a foot of water and can go up to 5 miles offshore or to the near man made reefs out of Ponce Inlet. It is maybe the driest small boat out there in in a chop. Scout really got it right with this hull design!

Very Nice boat! I have a 95 with a 60hp Johnson and wanting to re wire it can u show me your wiring set up? Wanting to do it myself and save money but not sure the wire sizes and all

I have done nothing to the factory wiring except to run a line to the center console for a switch to turn on the bubbler I installed.

I'm considering buying this exact boat used. I plan on using it for trout and redfish. How does that 60 push it? And does it handle a small chop?

I did my homework when I bought this boat. It is probably the driest boat under 18' I have ever been in, and it handles a chop super good. On a good day I have had it 5/6 miles offshore out of Daytona, and it can get in about a foot or less with the motor up in the flats. Scout really hit it out of the park with this hull design. The 60 horse Yamaha pushes it at 32/33 with 2 people loaded for fishing. By myself I can get 35+/- plained out. The only draw back would be that it can get crowded even with 2 people, but you can say that about any 16' boat. I would not hesitate to buy another Scout boat.
