Marc invites us to his journey to the Bazaruto archipelago, off the coast of Mozambique, for an intimate encounter with the family of Laiwane. He shares with us the traditions and values of his people, the Vahocas, a people of the sea who has a very peaceful way of life.
Through landscapes between dunes and mangroves, swept by the wind and the sea current, we board the Vahocas’ dhow and accompany them in their quest for food, far from the coasts...
Extract from the documentary: “People of the Sea - Mozambique, The Vahocas: Sailors of the Sand”
Direction: Julien Naar
Production: DÉCOUPAGES & ARTE France

I lived there for 20 years. The destruction to the fishery and the environment by using such fine nets is horrific and totally unacceptable and definitely not sustainable. The negative impact i saw over a 20 year time period is truly saddening.

Compare to VietNam this is nothing, In my country they use electricity to catch fish it leads to the entire ecosystem being destroy by these stupid people, Now in VN u can’t barely find fish in the river.

When I see Europeans among others, where its clearly not their home, the native Americans and their story come to mind, American/European History comes to mind, but now they go everywhere, w deciet in mind. Our innocence allows them to destroy us
