I've been playing FP, since almost the beginning of the game, and like almost all the new ones, yes, we thought there were a lot of people with cheats, but little by little you discover mechanics and improve, and in the end you realize that in this game mechanics prevail and if, sometimes, too many, good luck. Good video and very good explanation.

Hey Dave, congrats on qualifying, looks like Rex made it too now............. one thing I've not been able to find and is not mentioned too often in 'how to ' vids in Uni/Trophy respawn times, is there a chart or spreadsheet somewhere with all the maps and relative fish species with their corresponding respawn times? tia, M.
@SoopaDaveGaming
@SoopaDaveGaming 11 ай бұрын
Thats a great question. I dont usually put respawn times in videos for 2 reasons. 1.Most players don't want that information when they are just there to catch that fish. It would make the video longer for not alot of reason. Most people want the respawn times for a comp or a tournament and in these type of videos I do include that type of information. 2. If respawn times changes I would have a 1000 outdated videos to have to redo. This is the same reason I generally dont include setups in general videos. I agree that collective respawn time list would help.

But new players don't know this stuff but when someone brings in what would take all day for me in 40 minutes yes we think cheats. If they are that good stay out of game sport comps and let some new guys enjoy a win. Thanks for the videos. I'm learning here.

Hi Dave, a lot of great advice! One thing you didn't mention is something I do for huge lakes like sander, I actually draw a general map of the lake so I can mark where the boat spots are, especially in this q2 for the fishing planet boat series I'm in now. If you have a bad memory like me, it really helps and cuts down on some practice time. One question, I've seen a lot of people talk about cheating, but I don't see how anyone can unless they are a hacker lol, so how would someone cheat besides turning off their machine? I've been playing for several years and I haven't noticed any way to cheat, but to be honest, I haven't been looking for ways to cheat, just been working on locations, equipment, and technique. Oh, one more thing, well, two things, you forget to mention your slow boat that you use to show off and your favorite secret bait, the slug ... lmao! Rock On! 🤣

I feel like this respawn timers and exact spots for legendaries are a big let down, like it really drifts away from real life and turns comps into a math exam more than actually using information and experience on the fish you are trying to catch (like some species have different behaviours according to temperature, time of the day, wind etc.) Is it just me?
@SoopaDaveGaming

I definitely think you a have a good and valid point, but I like that respawn times and areas are there. I feel like it limits someone from being super lucky catching 10 uniques in 5 mins and destroying everyone based on luck. Great comment, you do have a good point!

With exploits its different story, you Soopa have talked about some of them, like the Crank the River etc. There's probably plenty of those around and people use them to gain advantage. Can't blame the players though, FP should just fix those. Even oversized fishing used to be an exploit. And probably would still be today if only very small circle of people would know how to do it. As far as I know TheGreedySheep was first one to stream about it publicly and after that it went viral. The video is still available, so it would be interesting to know if someone can find me an older video about it. The recipe in he's video is not the perfect one and there has been a lot of improvements after that. But before this was publicly known I saw people calling those oversize fishers cheaters in chat rooms all the time. That its not possible to catch fishes that big and that it has to be a cheat.
@SoopaDaveGaming
@SoopaDaveGaming 11 ай бұрын
Again I feel you are missing the point of this video, I clearly have made my beliefs about cheating clear, but not everyone is cheating. You can still win without cheating. Just like when I say there is cheating I have actually proof. Alot of people will say people are cheating because said person doesnt do well.
@SoopaDaveGaming

@@SoopaDaveGaming And I'm not that person who thinks that if I'm not doing well then everyone else must be cheating. I can actually admit that I have won competitions first time I enter them without doing any practices. Friend just sent me the markers and game just decided that it was my turn. I have seen streams where people win competitions without moving around at all, in places where it is very unlikely to happen - Bloody Threat and Saltwater Giants. So it works both ways, sometime you win just out of the blue.

What worries me the most though. I can't find the source forum post link anymore, because it's over 1 year old info. But those hackers on PC reverse engineered the code and someone posted to the forums this snipped of code: public class TournamentUpdateInfo { public float Score; public float SecondaryScore; public float PredictedScore; public int Place; public int TournamentId { get; set; } public int PredictedPlace { get; set; } } Why would the game API need to keep track predicted score and predicted place. I don't know if it is real or not, but after I saw that I have started to feel that it is true, the game has predetermined if I have a possibility to be competitive or not. No matter what knowledge, skill or preparation I have had. I used to spend 20+ hours for every comp to work out my rotations etc. I stopped doing that when the game started to nerf me out of the blue. Soopa your Char Chargers finals last place is a good example as well. I don't complain when I don't qualify or place in top 10. There's hundreds of players in every comp and they all expect to win, so almost everyone are disappointed after the comp :). But what I do object is when the game does not treat players equally or at least I'm left with the feeling that it didn't matter what I knew or how good results I got in practice the game just did't even give me chance. And before anyone asks, no there was not much more useful information in that forum post as most of the stuff is on the server side, thank god. It used to be on client side, and there are 5+ year old dumps about the game where there are matrixes of what baits are the best for different fishes. Luckily the fixed that and at least cheaters don't get that advantage anymore.

And for your point about Char Chargers(It happened to me as well in a worse scenario at Catfish Semifinals as well.) If you go back and watch I didnt say people are cheating or say the game was out to get me, I understood that sometimes you are just going to not have great luck. Too many people just accuse people of cheating or say the game is out to get them. It's ridiculous 😆. In fact if you watched them you will remember that those were both probably the most fun I've had streaming tournaments because I made the most of them.
@tapatalgud9734
@tapatalgud9734 11 ай бұрын
Will probably write more than one comment here. I agree with everything you are saying, but there are still things that you might have wrong. But let's first get this cheating thing out of the way. I don't think that people are cheating on closed systems (PS4, PS5, etc) where you need to jailbreak your system to modify game files and load cheat programs. Its is theoretically possible but very unlikely. On PC it's another story though. That's why I only play on consoles, all online PC games have cheaters in them. And if Call of Duty and other big names can't track them all down then its unreasonable to expect that small team like FP could do it. If you want proof google FishHAXZ.
@SoopaDaveGaming
@SoopaDaveGaming 11 ай бұрын
Again I feel you are missing the point of this video, I not sure what you mean about stuff I have wrong. I didn't say there wasnt cheating, I said not everyone who is winning is cheating. And the there is cheating going on in consoles as well, albeit its a small amount.
@tapatalgud9734

@@SoopaDaveGaming You read my comments in wrong order :). I actually supported your opinion that it's not that players are cheating but it's the game engine, that's actually treating people unfairly. And I tried to put those thoughts to different comments starting from cheating, then exploiting and then, that actually its under control of the game makers to treat players differently. One more thing that I can say is that the game is not pay to win either. That's another argument I hear a lot. After I discovered this weird post about game actually predicting your score and place, first thing I tried is check if being a Premium makes any difference and it didn't. Why I suspected that is because my friend was Premium and he seemed to have a lot better luck than me on average. And I'm not talking 1-2 comps, I'm talking about months or half a year period.
@SoopaDaveGaming
@SoopaDaveGaming 11 ай бұрын
I generally dont buy into that stuff without actual proof, I feel people can waste too much with crazy stuff when they could be using that time to actually get better at the game.

@@SoopaDaveGaming Got you, but when your rng is most of the time like your Char Chargers final then you might start wondering as well that everything is not right. I have spent thousands of hours in this game too. And again, I'm not comparing myself with other. It would not bother me if I was worse than others. That would suggest I have something to learn and improve. But when you do tournament after tournament 4-5 practice runs with the correct weather etc and get average score that would have done really well and then in the real tournament can't catch even half of that score and this happens over and over again then you just feel that its wasted time. That's why I don't do that anymore. I still win here and there but now I don't think that it's because Im good, but it's because the game allowed me to win.

@@tapatalgud9734 I believe in anecdotal evidence to some degree, but real proof comes with data and statistical analysis. Everything you mentioned so far is very small sample size, which kills confidence interval (validity). SoopaDave's videos have helped me understand ways to cut down on seemingly random events, but no 2 players will play exactly the same. Even if 2 players cast to the same spot, same retrieve, lure, position, the actual landing for the lure in the water is always going to be different and then comes the roll of the dice (aka: just because I can wear the same clothes, shoes and use same basketball as Lebron on the same court, doesn't mean that I can play half as good as he does, but some of my shots could actually go in due to luck). Having said that, you would likely need data from 500-600 separate accounts doing the same exact thing over 10 in game days, with only difference to have a 0.05 confidence interval (meaning that there is a 5% chance that the resulting difference is due to chance and not the 1 factor you are researching). Of course to reduce the confidence interval, you would need to increase number of days and/or accounts exponentially to get a more valid statistical result. SO, if you managed to get all that data, you can run chi-square, ANOVA, T-test, etc. on it to get your results that would show or prove a significant statistical difference, that may or may not actually work out to be a practically significant number. THAT would be proof, but sadly everything else is conjecture...
