Some of the best spots for large cobia are the channel marker buoys West of Egmont Key. Just freeline whatever small fish are available. We freelined a large blue runner and hooked a very large cobia which broke off 65 lb. braid line. Several guided boats hooked sailfish and large kings. These are really good spots and there is usually a lot of baitfish around.

Only way I’ve found Bobos to be good is if you soak them in soy sauce for a few hours, cover in sesame seeds, and do a slight pan sear to crust the seeds! Add a little wasabi paste and it’s fire!

I usually gaff cobia in the stomach if possible, it's really tough with the rib cage and cobia have a habit of going wild and tearing out the gaff, a net works better if available.
