This is my second attempt at fishing and filming Michigan's South Branch Pain River. My first attempt 6 years earlier was impeded by thunderstorms. While my second attempt was also ended prematurely by similar weather I was able to explore, film, and catch more fish than originally. Also, I think it should be said that I encountered fewer anglers and caught significantly more fish than when I had first fished it. Apparently publishing a video about this stream has not caused it to be destroyed by hordes of anglers as some concerned viewers speculated.

Your videos are always well done. I enjoy your honest assessments. It's nice to see you fish many of the streams that I used to fish when I started trout fishing in Michigan many , many years ago.

As usual I very much enjoyed your video. As usual also I will add that watching the resources of the lake my parents and grandparents ran a fishing resort on, locals with generations of experience and knowledge will harm the resource to a much greater extent than the recreational tourist. The paint is one of my favorites. No one should get mad about videos fishing blue water trout trail streams. These are not secret. Did you camp at the forks or just take a day trip?

I do like your videos, but if so many viewers are commenting on the handling of fish, which is poor, might there be an issue? Handle them lower to the water, keep from yanking them out of the water, and hopefully you've de-barb the hooks when catching small. These are some of the techniques true catch and release anglers use. Keep up the good work, although I'll now be barred.

Your comment is reasonable and I will be writing an explanation when I return from my 3 month fishing expedition. 1) trout are not going to die from skin infections, 2) trout that are not exhausted do not have to be pampered in order to survive, 3) trout are not people, they are fish. People eat fish. If a person's concern for the well being of a fish extends beyond whether it lives or dies then they shouldn't be catching them in the first place, nor should they be eating fish (like tuna) or any meats otherwise they are hypocritical. The media is very much at fault for this issue with their gross oversimplifications.

@@CoppersmithStudios1 I'm confused, who said trout would die from skin infections?? If played too hard and long, trout absolutely WII exhaust themselves...that's on the fisherman. You're portraying yourself as a catch and release fisherman, then you need to release the fish in the same condition when taken....without ripping out their jaws. The rest of your comment is irrelevant bro....

@@christweiten8256 Not you but many people have expressed the wrong belief that trout are dying from skin infections. I do not release my trout to portray anything, I release them so they may live. To say one must release trout in the same condition as they were caught appears to me as unrealistic idealism. My only goal in releasing a trout is so that it may live. If it gets some bumps and bruises along the way so be it. If that concerns some people then I question why they catch fish in the first place. The concern some people have with yanking a trout out of the water does not make any sense. A trout can exert more pressure against the line when it is in the water and can get leverage against the water. When I set the hook on a trout am I supposed to magically ascertain the fish's mass and apply exactly enough force to set the hook per some equation? Look, this channel is meant to provide information about trout streams. If you want to discuss the philosophy of how to treat a fish then please go elsewhere and discuss that in a forum where that is appropriate.
