Well the weather has been bad. The close season for rivers is over very soon under 3 hours. And Jon gives us a look into his tackle box / rigs. Always willing to share those little snippets of information. Even though some of your competitors might watch too. Nice one Jon. In fact I have been going through my rigs too. Handy about the titanium wire stems as I find wire stem floats are much better in many situations but the normal ones if and when bent are finished. Will be looking for those. Good luck in your future matches. And may your videos keep coming. Thanks Mike

Hi Jon, firstly thatnks for all the good info. I have noticed you use shot and not stotz on your rigs even when using 0.20 mainline. I have serious problems trying to get shot onto the mainline I use (ngage or reflo). what shot are you using. thanks in advance, and all the very best of luck on your big qualifiers this year...Tks Dave

Hi Jon, great video as usual, nice to see how you make up a good selection of rigs to cover most situations and venues, I especially liked the floats you designed yourself for fishing the margins and would have loved to have got some just like that when I bought all my floats as they look perfect for the type of margin fishing I usually do
@JonArthur
@JonArthur 3 жыл бұрын
No probs. Malman Mojos and RWC Floats Tanks are my top two margin designs now.

Thanks for a great tackle box walk through maybe its a spin off idea when weather is so bad thanks Jon. Do you back shot rigs when you make them up or when needed on bank
@JonArthur
@JonArthur 5 жыл бұрын
I always add backshots on the bank after plumbing up and that's pretty much the only thing I use Stotz for as they're much kinder to the line.

hi jon great to see the rigs you use its very informative i use stotz as i find them easier to use do you think the stot sizing is the same as normal shot i would use the split shot but the old eyes and numb fingers wont allow it lol the all your videos are spot on thanks
@JonArthur
@JonArthur 5 жыл бұрын
Stotz and shot are exactly the same in weight. Only issue with Stotz is they slide around too much for me.

How many of the same size floats do you carry, also is the majority carbon stem with red top. New to this and trying to learn.
@JonArthur
@JonArthur 7 ай бұрын
I personally carry 3to 5 of each size and mostly red tips, but that's personal preference. I would say 2 of each size is sensible and more if you are serious match fishing.

Try putting a coat of clear nail varnish on your floats before using it does toughen them up

Hi Jon, great video, it’s certainly helped me simplify my rigs 👍 quick question but why do you use Dusty Titans and not the carbons but for Roobs you use Roob Carbons and not the Titans?
@JonArthur
@JonArthur 3 жыл бұрын
I prefer carbon or glass stems wherever I can, but the Dustys are a bit more sensitive and a titanium stem gives a fraction of extra stability

If you fish 0.18 what elastic you use? Great vid!
@JonArthur
@JonArthur 5 жыл бұрын
Depends on the fish and venue and distance from the bank really. I tend to fish lighter elastic the longer out I fish. It could be anything from an 8-10 to a whopper stopper 18-20!
@Jase_Hunton
@Jase_Hunton 4 жыл бұрын
Hi John, on the dustys would you use the titanium stem for fishing though the water and on the deck rather than using traditional wire and carbon? Cheers
@JonArthur
@JonArthur 4 жыл бұрын
I just use the titaniums for everything with the Dustys although I do have some much older Mk1 versions with wire stems I haven't currently tied up.

Jon going to white Acres on Friday wot size float would you use on the Match lake Thanks
@JonArthur
@JonArthur 4 жыл бұрын
Depths are anything from 3ft to 10ft, so it can vary! About 0.5g or 0.6g for the short pole, 0.3g or 0.4g for the edge and 0.2g for shallow. Long pole deck could be anything up to 1g depending on the depth in front of you.

How many of each float size do you carry Jon. I'm a bit of a tackle tart and spend more time tieing rigs than fishing!

Hi Jon, after making a rig how long would you keep it, 1. after being used 2. never been used, before remaking/discarding?
@JonArthur
@JonArthur 5 жыл бұрын
Indefinitely so long as they are kept out of sunlight but realistically 6-9 months before I remake rigs and a used rig is normally retied after a couple of weeks or left until a day or two before a big match. I have rigs that are much older than that, but fresh is best as they say.

Jon can I pick your brains please just wondering how you mark your pole when fishing long some people recommend electrical tape but there is a debate as to whether the adhesive damages your pole. How do you approach this please
@JonArthur
@JonArthur 5 жыл бұрын
Yes I use electrical tape too. Never had any issues with it delaminating but i'd avoid leaving it on for too long.

99% of ur floats have the red/orange tips. Do u use other colours like yellow and black?
@JonArthur
@JonArthur 5 жыл бұрын
I sometimes use yellow and blacken tips as and when I need to. However, I can definitely see red/orange best. I have found anglers who see yellow best are often slightly colour blind. That's definitely not a criticism, by the way! :-)
