Nice 👍🏽 I usually go to axehead lake , but instead of fishing the lake I hit the river instead . I usually get some decent catches ... but I fish for carp and catfish more than anything else .

@@fishingonhope axehead is known more for the trout they stock on certain times a year . Catfish are always fun to catch , desplaines river is ok for catfish but the Chicago River is better in my opinion . Also Channahon is a great location for flathead catfish by the I&M River .

Dang nice Pike, congrats! I’ve been after Pike now and again lately with no luck. It’s been a long time since I caught one. I usually fish the DPR around Romeoville.

Yea they are awesome fighters and man DPR has multiple pike. Don’t give up fishing for em even in this cold weather I been catching them they are still out there trying to catch a meal. I usually fish the DPR around zion il since i live like a mile away keep on fishing my friend tight lines

I fished the Des Plaines today but a bit further south. Missed 2 fish and then reeled in blanks for 2 hours. Great river to fish though!

Yes it is, I’m from zion and man all through the DPR there is life at first I thought it was to shallow to fish but I casted out and sure enough man caught bass, pike , and bluegill

Don’t real in so much when you catch a fish...it’s safer and so much easier to bring the fish to you.

Yes, lesson learned on that pike that I lost by the branches. I should have let it swim a bit . Thank for the advice
