Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit kzbin.infoUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

It doesn’t seem the water like that in Florida produces like it does in the Northeast. May be due to the fact there is a lot more variety in the warmer waters. You do better off the reefs in calmer water. Up here it’s juicy water when you see it that way, but your blitzes down there seem to show up in the calmer waters.

Also...I call that a "scrapper surf" meaning that only the little hungry feisty ones are going thu that maelstrom of water..the wiser & older fat sallys are out of casting range waiting for the bait to seek calmer waters...at least that's my experience in Mass with blues and striper FWIW

Lastly and then I'll STFU...I've found that when a school of bait is going nuts, a popper with a red face gets more attention than anything going thru the school. Asking those fish attacking the school to pick your live or lure bait out of the pack is a harder sell than a wounded fish limping along the surface.

Great video the water was awesome for fishing, to me I would of been using a big popper or big rapala style surface lure ( 7" shallow water) you use what makes you happy. I enjoy catching jacks and blues and you just got to get past all the bait fish their feeding on the ocean looked beautiful

I will need to learn how to surf fish once I get to Florida. I enrolled in MMI in Orlando, start date is November 7th. Going to be leaving the wife and kids up here in Illinois until School is over in June. It's gonna be ruff for a while but, I think it will be worth it in the long haul. Once I graduate the wife, boys and I are moving to the Melbourne area or somewhere along the coast. So ready to transform a boat from someone trash to my treasure.

You can’t pick up that mesh, it’s under all the rocks placed there by the city when they put the rocks there. I truly think that’s my lure he found, during high tide I got it stuck about a week ago there.
