Fishing the Jetty at South Padre Island (First Time)

In this video, we take a trip to South Padre Island, Texas for a family vacation. I decide to try my luck at the Jetty rocks. We had winds coming in from the south at about 6 MPH. I used gulp minnows, artificial shrimp and a silver spoon. It's a beautiful place and the water was super clean with great visibility.

Ribbon fish are an Asian delicacy. Fishing at Seawolf Park before, they were keeping all the ribbon fish caught. 🎣🐠🐋 Ask one guy are they good to eat, he said yes. 😳 One man"s trash, another man's food.💯

Thanks! I tried my best. Looking hindsight, I think a jetty slip cork would have worked better. I looked up how deep it is on the beach side of the jetty, >17 feet deep.

@@chiroangler Oh whoa that is deep! The last time I went fishing I started up high fishing a bobber like you . Never got any hits then made my leader longer till to about 6 ft and bam the fish started hitting. I need to learn how to do that slip bobber you speaking of.

For sure, it's a beautiful area to fish. Water is very clean. Much better than my area which is Galveston.

I see you’re using Legacy fishing rod👍 me too, pretty good rod for $25. It’s also quite sensitive for fiberglass rod.

I've been using the legacy rods for quite some time now and they perform well in both fresh and saltwater. I just make sure that I rinse the guides after each trip to maintain. I still consider myself a novice angler so I use budget gear to learn. One day I might buy some really nice higher end equipment, but for now this works. Thanks for watching!

Yes it is free, but to get in the park I think there is a fee. I went super early before anyone was there.
