Amazing video, same year similar here in NI in the Mourne mountains as reservoirs that had flooded areas years before dried up and exposed roads etc underneath, such history, was great to watch this and see what happened to Mardale. Fishing looked epic too, always amazes me how far you can cast that little spinner :) keep up the good work

Places like this are really cool to see when the water is low aren't they! It can be quite eerie. Thanks for watching!
@QuakerJones2683 жыл бұрын
A friend of mine lives not too far from here. She was telling me her partners Great Grandad used to live in Mardale Village prior to the flooding. Apparently it affected him for many years having to move away from a place he loved. Some nice Perch you landed there mate, next time I'm up that way I will take my rod and spinners.
@adventurefishinguk3 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, always worth a go with the rods. I did well on the fact that so many lives were changed forever when it happened, it’s a part of the history of the lakes that isn’t often talked about!

My local reservoirs had the same the other day was walking along an old wall and found a load of lures and had a trout 😁 went back the next day with the metal detector and it had completely filled up after heavy rain that night. Over 6 ft of water in a few hours was slightly gutted as I couldn’t metal detect but was still awsome keep up the good work
@adventurefishinguk3 жыл бұрын
I wish I’d have taken a metal detector with me I’m sure I’d have found some interesting bits and bobs. I didn’t see any lures around but no doubt there will have been some around! Sounds like you had a good trip

It’s been a while since I was there and looks very strange … still … it looks as beautiful a place as ever and that 3rd perch you had was really colourful. .. Keep them vids coming young man and all the best to you and yours 👍🏽🎣👍🏽🎣👍🏽😀😀😀

Stunning water made even more interesting with the low water levels. We went there back in early Sept & had tea in the hotel overlooking the water. The water was very low then. Fantastic views from high up on the hotel terrace & unlike all the other lakes / waters in the Lake District, it was not full of tourists!!

Do you ever fish with Mepps spinners and is there a difference between those and the Rotex ones ?
@adventurefishinguk2 жыл бұрын
I do mate yeah I've found mepps don't cast as far as the savage gear rotted spinners, but they've got a smaller more natural presentation. Hope this helps!

Outstanding, George! Don't apologise for the history lesson, there's more to fishing videos than catching fish (luckily for me!! 😩) Those perch are lean, mean fighting machines, I wonder if they deepen up in the late winter/early spring? Fascinating to see these places in low water levels, I was looking at a local reservoir today with the level down 18ft or so, there's features I never knew existed! Check out my latest, I could use the odd comment! 🤣
