Fishing the Rio Grande near Taos - Record Trout!

In this video I fish the Rio Grande near Taos, NM and reel in my personal best 3 lb trout.
I was there a few days previous to this with my sister and we hauled in 8 decent sized Rainbow Trout, so I came back out here to see what I could get and got very lucky!

I love trout and when I'm fishing for food I kill them immediately. Imagine some one squeezing your belly hard and holding you under water till you died that's exactly what happens to a fish out of water. A quick rap to the back of the head with your knife or fishing rod does it quick and humane.beautiful fish and great eating. Nice job

Agreed! I had a large stone near me and whacked this fish on the head after taking the pictures, cut the gills, and drained the blood. Always try to make it as quick and painless as possible, considering the circumstances.

Took a hike down La Junta point and camped overnight 33 years ago when I lived in Red River. Caught a 20" brown.
