Sorry for late reply Graham. No straight answer. My sliders vary between 4 and 8ssg. The size is important regarding depth, wind and undertow. Under average conditions I plumb up just touching the deck. Plumbing takes time so work it through the swim so you know the variation of the bottom. If the undertow is strong I often lay more line on and fish a bigger slider. Incidentally the sliders are fished bottom only and I make them myself. Most of the time I bulk ssg or lg,s about 3 to 4ft up. I then space 4s and finish off with a 6 about 9 inches from the hook. Also I put two no 4s a couple of foot above the bulk for the float to sit on when casting. Doing this eliminates tangles.

@@fishingwithgeoffcooper4149 Hey Geoff thats a massive help for me. I really appreciate you taking the time to give such a detailed answer. I am just getting back into fishing ( second season ) I am giving this slider fishing a blast on a massive deep lake in Lithuania. The results so far for big roach have been great. Next step is to get into some shoals of Bream so your film and advice are bang on mate. tight lines.
