Fishing The South Levee on Sabine Lake for specks

While I'm waiting on my new boat to come in i decided to fish some of my old stomping grounds.
This is the south levee on Sabine Lake in Port Arthur, Tx. This levee is located on Pleasure Island.
It fishes similar to a long rock jetty and it holds a pile of baitfish in the mornings and afternoons.
What I did on this day was I’d drive around and look for the bait fish. Then I’d make a few casts and move to the next area when i felt like it was time to make a move.
The best times to fish out here is in the early mornings and late afternoons. Now your bite window is short so you definitely need to fish an area fast.
The south levee is my favorite. It's way less pressured than the north levee.
I caught my specks on chrome torpedoes and pink n gold bill lewis traps!

That’s awesome!!!! I almost brought an old pop r out there. That’s one of those baits no one talks about 😂. Yes you definitely should! That torpedo is about to be really on fire! I know!!!!! I wish I would of had my trap rod in reach. I would have flipped it on it. If I get to go tomorrow I’m gonna chunk some massive topwaters and see if anything wants to play.

Man I have never had any luck on the south levee.... North levee is hit or miss but always crowded.... I'll have to give this side another try

It’s definitely best in the mornings and afternoons. Yes it is! It always seems to be PAKCED! Definitely do and try that torpedo and pink n gold trap.

Hahaha. No. I had my tackle box In the back seat and my pliers were in the box. I wasn’t gonna carry that heavy thing down to the rocks 😆

You park basically on the road. It’s a real tight squeeze with parking and traffic. I always would drive around until I see fish then jump out and fish. You’ll do great! This whole levee is great during the summer months. Especially when the clean water shows up. Definitely let me know how you do.

no tin ranger today? lol funny that the specs hit the back hook on the torpedo and the big mouth will hit the front hook. now if you could only get em both at the same time on the same lure. but that is not as good as the large red chasing down the caught spec.

It’s coming lol. I actually got an email from my dealer my boat is in and they’re rigging it all out. I went and seen it today. It’s pretty!!!!! Hahah yes it is! I was hoping that redfish would have ate him! That would have been crazy. Still pretty cool that I actually caught that on video.

Them specks were running hard yesterday at the steps, i limited out in under an hour down south lures paddle tail and 3/8oz jig head

Last weekend I was at Pine Island Bayou and then I caught a couple of bass I had to do a little rescue of some kids and a grandfather A boat crash

It was a great time! If it’s not crazy weather tomorrow morning I’m gonna run back out there. Typically you can if you have something like a super spook tied on or something fairly heavy it will get out there further.

Is it good for flounder fishing?

Unfortunately the levees aren’t all that good for flounder fishing. The best one for flounder is the north jetty and you’ll want to fish on the canal side. However the absolute best place to flounder fish is Dick Dallon park in Sabine Pass. If you have access to a boat that whole Louisiana shoreline in sabine lake is pretty dang good. Especially around the marsh drains. Good fishing!
