Some great Information Bubba, you nailed it with every line class and type of fishing you will do. UC makes the best rods on the market. I hope someday to fish Cedros. Keep it up!

Hi Bubba, whats the difference between the RUS 80 Mega vs the RUS 80 Tilefish? Are those the same or is there a difference?

Hey Bubba. what size and how many yards of fluoro is/are on your 9e HX ? thanks
@FishingWithBubba12 жыл бұрын
Hello Dave, I use about 200ft to 300ft on 50LB or 60LB fluorocarbon It depends on how long you can cast. I don't want the knot going through the guides. Also, I use the JX or the LX on the E9. You can use the HX however it's easier for me to cast the LX or JX.

how far you put the reel on E900 jig deckhand rod? And to confirm you using Avet hx on it?
@FishingWithBubba12 жыл бұрын
Hi and Thanks, on my E900 I put the bottom of the rod to my elbow , then open my hand and see on the rod where the center of my hand and the rod meet That's where I place the reels for me. You can start there to see if its comfortable for you. Yes, I use HX, however if this is your first 9 foot rod you may want to start with Avet JX it's a little narrow and easier to control when you fist start. I hope this helps.

I use a Smitty soft pad. It’s all I need for up to cows! Sun protection is important… there is no shade on the pangas, I wear a long sleeve shirt and wear a buff with my hat and sunglasses… team terrorist! Yeah, the fish aren’t finicky down south. I use a 50# mono leader on everything and save the fluoro for BFT. Salas 7x FTW, B/W, bird shit, mint are my colors. It’s what the pangueros love. I yo-yo with a 6x Jr, it’s rarely deep enough to need a 6x. If you need heavier I like the JRI 6. I’ll be there for the 6th time at the end of the month! I’m still a 3-4’ leader guy on my surface iron rigs… I use. TranX 500 or Lexa 400 and rarely backlash!

If you need to cut kelp to get a calico that you probably are going to release, you shouldn't be fishing there. Leave the kelp to grow.

You are 100% right! There are some many places to catch them, where you are not destroying their habitat. Thanks for the post!

I’m taking 3 rods… US Predator 76/Avet JX Raptor w/50# leader for yo-yo and bait. Phenix psw909xhj/TranX 500 w/50# leader for surface iron, Phenix Psw909xh w/Lexa TW 400 w/50# leader for stick baits, swim baits, surface iron. I’m all in for YT, mostly on surface iron! Hooks? Sorry, UC surface iron sticks are hard to come by! I go big w/EC 2004 8/0. I haven’t see a YT at Cedros that won’t eat a slow trolled or flylined Mac on them. I’ve had guys make fun of them and then bum them off of me! If I took a 4th rig it’d be a Calico stick… 8’ Calcutta or Teramar with a Curado/TranX 300. My son got a 37# YT while fishing for Calicos on his Curado 300ej! We both caught 45# YT at Cedros on our 1st trip there. On my 2nd trip I managed to catch 26 YT in one day!
