Caught my biggest bass of the year yesterday with a donkey tail jr. Had my Old 18 Authentic UUL bending similar to your new custom rod. Spiral wrap UUL rods sounds like a good idea. All the guys I see with those types of rods are salt water slow pitch jigging rods where they bend deep with large fish. So an UUL light bending deep with a bass on the end might help. I heard they can help with casting too. I read on a bass forum that a guy was slowly switching to custom made spiral wrapped rods because he's a believer in the casting.

That donkey tail jr is quickly becoming a confidence bait for me.

@@FishAnything I have another one to send too!! One on BFS and one on UL spinning. I've been trying out one of the Magic L rods.

My buddy acid wrapped his bfs rod and it really helps with managing lighter lines rubbing on the blank and overall sensitivity of the rod. Read that it also helps with casting distance, but can't confirm.
@FishAnything6 ай бұрын
Yeah that seems to be a popular thing for BFS guys

I was really hoping you would have gone more into depth on that bfs rod with the spiral line guide configuration... Hopefully more on it in the next video?

Great approach to fishing the wind. I like that you kept options open. I show up with a game plan and find the wind blowing and its what you decide to do next that matters. Confidence baits are almost always a solid plan B. Glad you got to work out the nice new red BFS stick

With the first few nice days of the year here where I’m at, and got to try and stir up some bites at my favorite bass pond. The water itself wasn’t all that warm and there wasn’t much movement and bites were few and far between. Looking through my terminal I found some small 1/32 mini bucktail jig heads (just something I picked up from Walmart one day) both in chartreuse and white, and decided to put a micro swim bait on to flair the feather out to make my own skirt. Cut to the action where that tiny jig with just the perfect amount of movement and small profile and slammed bass from tiny half pounders to a solid 3 the rest of the day. I’m very excited to try this setup with a mule minnow 😮

At least I caught fish but wasn't what I was going for, I was trying to catch some trout.

I just a Daiwa Kage in a 7’ 1”. Would a Vanford 2000 reel work well with it? Or should a stick with a 1000? Thanks!

Can the ultralight drop shot be used effectively on a bfs setup?

You could definitely do it. I prefer spinning but there is no rule here technically.

is the key to fish downwind in windy conditions??
@FishAnything6 ай бұрын
I actually prefer to fish into the wind if possible. The crosswinds are the biggest thing I prefer to avoid. It’s all about line management.

How do you tell what reel is a BFS
@FishAnything6 ай бұрын
They are usually called out / marketed that way. It’s basically a standard casting reel with lighter components and a shallower spool to help with casting tiny presentations. Typically pretty pricey for the good stuff, otherwise some Chinese gear like Kastking offers more affordable options.
@StumpkillerCP7 ай бұрын
Cast downwind and position accordingly. It ain't rocket surgery.

@@FishAnything As a fly fisher I avoid upwind like the plague. Carries over into spin and bait-casting. I surrender.
