I tied this knot, it ended up pretty nice and compact, trimmed the tags but still getting snagged on the tip eyelet, just gonna throw straight braid and hope for the best

These videos are great cos they're captued so clear but lack a bit of commentary or caption pointing out certain key points to make a knot work. It should always be mentioned that the FG is a friction knot so do not wet it when you pull both brain and leader ends tight. You want the knot to heat up and set into the mono, a change in braid colour indicates this is done right

I was using that knot up until a bought a Millerods Grub Freak and Vibe Freak. The top eyes are super narrow on the rods and the maker even recommends FG knots. I did try to keep using the normal knot as before because the FG seemed a bit daunting to learn at first, and even had the alberto knot break on a cast. Haven't had any issues since with the FG though

Yer you need tension for light lines should have tension everytime to be fair his wraps are loose and you definitely don't need 150 half hitches I only do 15 wraps from 6lb up to 80lb and only 5 half hitches to finish it off

I have used this method and it works. It is really not hard. Once you get the hang of it I have tied this on a boat rocking in the ocean. It’s not hard to do once you practice it. I don’t do as many knots on the end. I don’t think you really need it.

Noo, the answer is you cannot tighten mono onto braid like this. The knot works on the principle of the thinner braid "biting" into the leader material (mono or fluoro).

rissuto is not finished properly. should be unwound and the tag goes inside of the knot and comes out facing your leader. also, i don't like to see the knot moving apart that much wnen you are cinching it down. it should change shape and color. the knot shouldn't spread out markedly like that.

Non per incapacità nell'eseguire il procedimento ma per mancanza di sensibilità nell'utilizzare monofilo ø 0,20 e trecciato ø 0,10. Mi ero esercitato con monofilo ø 0,80 ed era tutt'altra cosa in quanto percepivo la rigidezza del monofilo, con ø 0,20 no, zero sensibilità e capitavano delle sovrapposizioni errate. Solo io capito in questo problema o è cosa comune a molti? Grazie

This method will fail very quickly. One half hitch and then pull on each end as hard as you can three to four times to imbed the braided line into your mono or fluorocarbon line. This is pretty but not good. The wraps are on-top of the mono, not imbedded. Sorry!!!

@@saratoga1956 Ps I’m not sure what the fiddly method is called, but it’s the one where you wrap a doubled loop around your small and ring finger, and create a loop with your thumb/index/middle finger (with the braid), then feed the leader with the other hand, alternating which side of the braid loop you wrap around. Tuck the leader spool under your leg, and keep the leader taught. The braid loop needs to be relatively firm, but I’ve noticed that the knot works best on the first, say 6 wraps, if there is not tooooo much tension (a little bit), then after that you can firm it right up (even pull the leader tag if you can manage, before hitching up at the end. You don’t want any slack really, though you might get away with the odd momentary laps in this. On the finishing hitches, I’ve ditched the “locking” method, as this promotes the leader tag to stand a little proud of the finished knot, and this can cause issues. Just 5 or 6 lots of pairs - ie 10-12 hitches. Then trim everything up and start casting! You should be able to find this method on KZbin. Hope I’ve been of some help. Cheers.
