Cherry Lake is very hit and miss. I have had some days where I have caught 40+ carp in one session then the next day not a touch. Its just about persistence there. During the middle of the day it can go quiet. ill try and get another video done there in the coming weeks.

@fishingmad

Compost worms should also work fine. I have used garden worms in the past but found i had to put a few on the hook and had to use a smaller hook. The movement and smell should attract hungry carp. Thanks for subbing, got some good content coming soon.

Carp fish a lot better in the warmer months, also make sure you have a very light sinker and smallish hook as they can spook quite easily if the tackle is too heavy.

Unfortunately there has been a massive fish kill in Cherry Lake since this segment was filmed, thousands of litres of chemical solvent entered the lake via kororoit creek and devastated everything. Don't know if the EPA has sorted it out yet or if fish have returned.

Hey guys, great to see your getting rid of that vermin. Some viewers here have mentioned getting days where they couldn't seem to get a bite. If you want to catch carp all the time i want you to study coarse fishing techniques and how those european masters will flavour there corn as carp will tend to stay away from plain baits and corn at regular intervals. Spent many years fishing for carp above Melton weir and on some days it would be loaded with fishermen along there. After experimenting with many flavoured corn a moment came to me where i got completely smashed by my girlfriend, how could this be? I had mentioned about dying your corn different colours and flavours to attract carp. Set up our rods with burley cages and used bread crumbs and mixed in our flavoured corn, i think every fish in that place came to her corn soaked in green cordial that she had snuck off and soaked her corn overnight.

@@fishingmad They have big tiger snakes and brown snakes around the northern shore of Cherry Lake. The tiger snakes in the area are mostly blind because they have some disease - but they can still hunt with their other senses. The brown snakes are the most aggressive but if you see one just freeze - and it will slither away.

@@fishingmad in Asia we eat carp by deep frying them and eat it with sambal. Ideally you don't want it to be bigger than 1 KG for good eating. The bigger the less tasty they are.

Not very well, fished for around 1.5 hours near the reeds with corn and bread and got nothing. I assume we caught nothing due to the very heavy rain the previous night as the lake was flooded up to the path in some spots which probably put the fish off. Might go back again, we will see.

Cherry Lake can be like that sometimes. I find its either dead quiet or frantic with catches. A few months back i went 2 days in a row. Hope that helps, good luck out there. let us know if you need any further tips.

@fishingmad 4 жыл бұрын
By far i think the best is a size 6 or size 8 long shank. Carp have very small mouths and most people make the mistake of using really big hooks. Have a look at the start of this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqHIdqFtjtufj7M which shows how I rig up and what I do to catch them. the second half off the video is a bit silly so feel free to ignore.

@fishingmad

I agree completely. 99% of the fishing i do is catch and release. I love fishing and especially love watching a fish swim away when its released. However with Carp fishing in Australia its illegal to return any carp back to the water because of the breeding habits and destructive habits to native fish species and fauna. As a local fishing ambassador, we must follow the local rules. But I'm certainly not a big fan of destroying fish. There are always some locals happy to take carp for a feed, so it take comfort in at least giving carp to those people so its going to some level of good.
