Cannot thank you guys enough. You are half my age but your experience and knowledge yesterday helped me catch my personal best of 17lb 5oz Mirror Carp using this method. I used a Crafty Floater Salty Tuna and in 3 casts I landed 2 fish including my PB. For someone who only started fishing again 4 months ago after a 35 year “break” I’m chuffed. Great channel, great advice and so easy to understand. Thanks again.

Guys, I just stumbled accross your channel, after a video was randomly suggested by KZbin. I do want to thank you for all the videos, everything I watched so far is very well produced, organized, and everything makes sense. I am very engaged in your tutorials. Before I moved to Ireland and started to focus a lot on sea angling, I was an amateur carp and tench angler myself. Your videos re-ignited that forgotten passion I had a long time ago. So thank you for that! I am amazed you don't have a lot more subscribers, to be honest. This is not a 50k subs channel, by any means. Here's hopping for you to get to the million soon, you very much deserve it. Cheers!

Thank you for your explanation of the chod system, I found your narrative to be very easily understood, I have used standard hair rigs on a swivel allowing movement between 2 tungsten shot for many years and found it to be a different and effective way of catching carp, but your system is much more fish friendly and more importantly precise(that came out wrong fish welfare is paramount and precision is secondary 😓!) I used your account of use on YT. It’s been invaluable to myself as I was using a method which was far less savvy on all aspects of safety and success I just wanted to thank BOTH of you as your method feels and is far superior,sorry I have taken this long to express my appreciation (I used method feeders for carp and did not explore the chod system) I was very happy to use feeders as they seemed to suit all my needs as well as the other well known systems,believe it or not I was blissfully using most of the other systems and did not consider using the chod until coming across a situation where it was the “go too” choice!, I didn’t want to leave this unsaid as you and your brother are admirable in the way you approach the sport I wish happiness and success in your endeavours in the future from one more informed angler yours Jammin.

Great video, as you know Carl I love your videos. Would it be a good idea to promote the helisafe system so you can drop the lead if needs be …. Hopefully sending the carp up into the water making it easier to land the fish. I hate dropping leads as much as the next guy but I’m a firm believer that it can mean landing a fish or losing it. Just a bit of food for thought for people.

An excellent tutorial. I was able to make my very first chod rig following your video, thank you! I have a question though. I used the naked variant for my mono main line. What do you do when the session is done and you need to transport the rods home. Before I just cut the knot and took all from the main line so I was able to transport the rods home. But now there is the barrel and chod sleeve. If I take it out from the line, I won't be able to put it back. How do you handle this? I don't want to have the chod system only for one-time use.

Best fishing tutorial videos guys!! Keep up the good work. After tying the leadcore leader what’s the best way to join it to the main line?
@Emielio14 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the great tips! I usually fish a variant of this, just a helicopter rig with sinking baits (boiled feedcorn, balls of white bread, a maggot clip, a fake crayfish etc.) in combination with a method lead. However, I have also experienced those hesitant bites when fishing pop-ups, and I think that might be due to them being fished over a ball of bait. Maybe I'll put more distance between the hooklink and the packbait when fishing pop-ups next time :)

Just a quick question, I am using the lead clip system that you have done a video about, I have tried it on the canals but not had a take... could this just be down to the fact that their is not as many carp / tench on the canals - am I better trying on a lake over the weekend?

@logan12274 жыл бұрын
I was just thinking there how you said it’s mainly fished on a slack line couldn’t you use drop backs and fish it tight or would it not work
@fishingtutorials4 жыл бұрын
Hey Logan, the reason for suggesting a semi slack line is to ensure the hook doesn’t get pulled down into the weeds. You can still clip on a bobbin normally and a bite should still be registered as usual, you just don’t want to pull the line really tight or else the hook gets pulled downwards into the weeds :)
@logan12274 жыл бұрын

General question on chod rigs. With the hook length being so short, if you don't ditch the lead isn't it going to be hitting the fish during the fight? I use helicopter rigs and it's very similar and I'm worried I'm damaging the fish. Thanks!
@millwallfan063 жыл бұрын
If your not sure of the bottom is it a good idea to literally make this your default rig on all rods on the day? Unless you have time to lead around? And then maybe use different setups but have this as a default ?
@fishingtutorials3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, yes if we’re going somewhere new or somewhere weedy/silty then chod rigs are a great bet. Once you’ve leased around and found clear areas then you can fish normal rigs but if you wanna just cast out three rods to showing fish or stay mobile the chod rig is great.

Great video lads very clear and we’ll put together. I have stayed away from fishing the chod as I was always paranoid that my bait is off the bottom specially if I was trying to fish a slack line on a windy day. Can you take me through the process of how you guys fish your main line after you cast the chod out please. Do you just let of loads of slake then put it on your alarms? Would be great if you could talk me through your way after you cast the bait out.

@fishingtutorials5 жыл бұрын
If it’s quite windy, then I’ll put my rod tips as low as possible, even a little bit beneath the surface. You don’t need to fish really slack, just enough that the line isn’t pulled up off the bottom. :)
