In Alaska during the King salmon run 'combat fishing" you yell fish on and there are lots of fishermen that will go up the bank cutting every line that wasn't reeled in!

These catfish don't run like a Salmon.You can usually reel them straight in.If you think you have a trophy on and need the room to fight the fish i am sure they would reel in or cut the line.
