Tip #1: Don't ever go on the weekend because it will be crowded. The week is a lot quieter. Tip #2: Everyone else already thought about tip #2 and now it's crowded in the week too.

A friend of mine was a top-notch Steelhead fisherman. He had this saying..."Fish your feet first"...which is both memorable and worthy. He'd start his drifts by flipping his gear a few feet in front him and then work his way out from there.

Hey Rod, sorry for the MANY questions I have, but can I bottom bounce with trout beads, I know they wouldn't float but can they stay at the bottom of the creek/river? or do I need to float fish with them.

Hi Rod! 'Id like to try center pin for salmon and trout fishing. What is your sugesstion for beginner set-up?
@FishingwithRod
@FishingwithRod 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Melvin, a good entry level/inexpensive centerpin rod to start out with is Shimano Convergence CVCM106M2B. I would invest a bit more on the centerpin reel because a cheap centerpin reel spins poorly and it'd defeat the purpose of using one. A good centerpin reel such as an Islander Steelheader may cost several hundred dollars, but it doesn't lose much resale value as long as it is well taken care of. The experience of using it is also much better, it'll cut down the learning curve for you quite a bit.

Thank you Rod. I was looking at the specification of this rod and it has slow action. Does a fast action rod better? The center pin you are using in this video is an Islander ? Looks good to me because I usually saw chrome and red

Would it still be worth fishing the vedder in mid November? Great video , very informative!
@FishingwithRod

Absolutely. While fishing will be spottier, you will still be able to catch both chrome coho and chum salmon with a bit of searching.

Hey Rod, I wanted your opinion... if I was trying catch salmon on spinners and spoons could I use my Baitcaster? 40lb braid with a 20lb Fluorocarbon liter.
@FishingwithRod
@FishingwithRod 8 жыл бұрын
+Jon Fisher You can certainly use a baitcasting setup for spoons and spinners, but there's no need to use lines that are so heavy.

How do you manage to make your roe last a whole year? Do you cure it then put it directly in freezer?
@FishingwithRod
@FishingwithRod 3 жыл бұрын
Yep, I cure, and dry it until the texture I want, wrap it in saran wrap, then freeze. It stays good in the freezer for a couple of years. This is how I cure my roe: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoSZn42sr7yfrbM

+StarzHyper7 It's getting pretty late for coho salmon now in the Fraser Valley, but there are some systems where you can still catch the odd fresh ones.

They're tight lipped because people throw the same thing at them every single day. Try using just a worm. Or better yet, bust out the 6 weight fly rod and toss a golden stone or baetis under an indicator. The first time I ever moved here to BC I always wondered why people use all this weird gear and the same bait every time. Fly rod/ spinning rod work just fine 90% of the time whatever fish you're trying to catch. This year was quite comical on the vedder, watching guys trying to catch spawning chum with these long ass rods with unnecessary equipment.
