it wasnt the memory of maria that woke shadow up. if you recall, the control panel in shadow's prison had the eggman logo appear on it, meaning that gerald actually hacked into the system to wake shadow up to begin his plans.

Yes. Maria was sneaking Shadow around. If she wasn't a child who was tied to getting the cooperation of the most brilliant mind of the time, she would have been in trouble. It feels like Gerald was her primary guardian, although it wasn't stated. You see her steal an access card from a sleeping scientist when they got to the roof, and she switches out a teddy bear for shadow during one test. Because they want Gerald to work there, they had to let his granddaughter have basically free access to be a kid around the lab.

Hey Joseph, it's Scottie. That Chuck E Cheese type place is an Easter egg for a side mode from Sonic Adventure 2. This movie and the Guardian Union of Nations (GUN) from the last movie is also deeply rooted in Sonic Adventure 2. The reason why I know so much about that game's story is, like how you Joseph played Sonic the hedgehog 2 excessively, I played Sonic Adventure 2 a ton. It was one of my favorite games growing up. So naturally elements of Sonic The Hedgehog 2 and this movie hit right home for me. Especially if it's well written and directed. Love the casting of Keanu Reeves as Shadow. Fulfills a joke going back all the way to 2019 and the first Sonic movie, where Sonic was watching Speed (starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock) from outside through the Wachowski's window.

It seems logical that a actor, who won me over with his charm in Mask?! Could make this particular, currently, cartoon friendly genre, accessible as a quirky 🤨comedy - would watch this☺

I grew up playing Sonic on Sega so I took my overly serious millenial self to go see this and I laughed throughout. The Happy Bea Arthur Day joke at the beginning was probably the funniest thing I've seen in a theater all year. so unexpected.

14:45. Sonic was different because he hid in a cave until he was found by the policeman (Tom) and they became family whereas Shadow, I presume, was captured by the army/government and used for experimental purposes as soon as he got to earth. I think this was explained in the film but could be wrong. That was maybe what I miss about the first movie, Tom and Sonic are the main characters, but in this G.U.N. is more prominent.

I was falling asleep during the Mufasa review- not because of you guys but even your retelling of that story in the movie just seemed like the damn thing was a snoozefest chore that was just there to make Blue Ivy a star and Beyonce more cashola. Don't get me started on the laying on a car horn that is Billy Eichner. Sonic 3 seems like it would be enjoyable. Genuinely it feels like they should be paying you and all of us to watch some of these films rather than us paying them. PS remember Nick you gave Mufasa a 2/5 so don't make that face at Joseph, when gave this 2.5/5. It's clear which would cause you less suffering to watch a second time.
