What didn't make sense to me was the copycat killings. The killer would hold the drawing while laying down to take over a body. However, he never received his drawing supplies until after the killings.

During one of the first murders, they smash cut to Malkovich seizing, and I said to myself "wouldnt it be funny if he was like astral projecting to do these murders". I was laughing my ass off at the final reveal when my joke turned out to be real! Just a bad movie all around.

Martin Lawrence's casting here was downright awful. He feels so uncomfortable in such a serious role. I can't take a single word he says seriously because of how stiff his delivery is with every single line. There's not a shred of emotion in his voice, even in scenes where he should. He feels so oddly out of place here that it makes even the big reveal at the end just feel so awkward.

The movie has a flaw, how did Arnaud was able to control Det. Jake, the movie does not show a preview drawing of Jake? The murders where done before the detectives reach out to Arnaud and before Arnaud got his drawing tools back.

I hate when they have someone in the movie say something that should have happened, but only happens after mentioned. For instance, if he was poisoned, he would have died before she told him.

The use of voicing over other characters to let you know they were being possessed was such a poor execution that It would have been better to lazily write in that the killer was indeed just some crazy fan.

The plot twist was kinda dumb if I'm being honest. I was really hoping for it to be realistic, even speculating about Martin having bipolar disorder, or Mary's husband or bf being a psychotic creep, but no they took the supernatural route and it just broke my entire interest in this movie.
@mistercool38592 жыл бұрын
The whole point of the movie was that The Artist would be able to free himself with his mind despite being imprisoned. That is why the idea of Martin's character having dissociative personality disorder (which I also initially thought was the better idea) wouldn't have worked.

The movie was very bad, it had the potential to he good. If you took Martin out of the movie it would have been better sorry to say. I love Martin though. It was a combination of silence of the lambs, seven, and fallen. Like really? Smh.... Martin seemed like he was not prepared for the movie at all, and I agree with Joesph it was weird all the way through.... On paper the story could have been good. Execution was trash! The scenes where Martin is driving or falls it clearly not him like what is this the 80s...just bad, the Voodoo lady and the priest were introduced for nothing plot points that could have added to the story but fell flat.

The twist took me out, so stupid! He shouldn’t have been in prison on death row. Now imagine the man in prison was innocent. She talks about his trial and he denied the killings. He’s being puppeted by the artist from outside the prison leading them to him. That would’ve made the movie so much better. The way they did the twist was idiotic. Also the artist not being in the prison and outside using his powers, it sets up sequels. The premise had so much promise but they completely f’d it. 😂

7.5/10 - I liked it. I think that the movie should have been about 15 to 20 minutes longer. The scenes between Martin and Malkovich should have been extended a little longer. It was nice seeing Martin do a completely dramatic role, and I hope that he gets to do more of these type of movies. Melissa Roxburgh was excellent. I can definitely see her star rising in the future.
