There are a lot of comparisons to Friday and one thing I loved about this movie is that unlike Craig and Smokey (who I LOVED), those girls exhausted ALL of their efforts to get that money and I loved that. This was such a fun time!

I seriously LOVE this movie. The nostalgia of my youth with the neighborhood (the candy lady selling stuff out her house, person doing hair, etc). And Sza having a leeching hobosexual bf is too real. Plus the movie is just so funny and the humor isn't too try hard. Also I love how everything that's shown comes full circle (the ceiling falling, the axe in Keke's crush's car). Plus they point out stuff like gentrification and the trap of payday loans in a way your every day audience won't feel too preached at. I never felt bored or that I was watching people act. Everything wraps up in a predictable way but it's the type of movie where you're not expecting them to try to subvert tropes.

Great review! I felt it was a fun movie that had buddy comedy 90's vibes; it has whimsy / slapstick that was so prevalent in 90s cinema. i felt like it could have benefitted from even more! the last act / epilogue felt like it was missing that and replaced it with '00 realism.

I loved this movie. The praying mantis joke had my whole theatre in tears. I also agree Lola was the weakest point; my friends and I also thought it was such a good opportunity for a stunt casting or someone to have a fun quick bit part but after the fire his plot went nowhere
