I love watching your videos but, can I ask, why do you use, what I can only assume is a piece of liquorice for a landing net handle? Surely an investment in a better landing net handle would be much more efficient?

Great video Nosh. Don't be to down hearted on the hook pulls, i have experienced the same in the past. This can be caused by a number of reasons long hook lengths this is very common as the line can slack and allow the fish to get the hook out. If you are confident in your hook tieing skills and cant see a problem with that its very unlikely it will be that tbh as you would loose the hook or hook length if this was the issue. It maybe just a bad batch of hooks you have, one thing yo try maybe either lower your shot to as close as you can to the loop to loop connection or try a small shot on the actual hook length as this will add a small amount of resistance and keep the hook lodged. When it was happening to me I was having a mare and losing loads with me as I was under my own pressure to try and net the fish I was rushing without realising I was doing it and found that I was lifting into bites to early or when playing a fish I was either putting on to much tension or not enough at time allowing my line to go slightly slack. Hope this make sense and hopefully you will be able to solve whats happening 🙏 🙂 good luck mate 👍

Hello Alan. It's baffling about the losing fish. But I can suggest trying Pallatrax Gripz hooks. They don't have barbs, but they do have a flattened area near the point. That makes them wider, which migh be just enough to stay in long enough to land your catches. If you give them a go, let me know how you do. TTFN.

The fish were hammered when they were young, really bad mouths, was told to use smaller hooks ie 18 and small baits , max 6mm pellets and soft baits like expanders

Have you ever thought that they were foul hooked, if a Guru QM1 size twelve goes in properly you will not loose them, they will not pull out, have confidence in your set up otherwise you will loose even more, feed less, one fish at a time.

Alan i dont no if you off center your hooks you will loose at least 50 percent less fish.
