Had three in a twenty long with a male betta. Sadly the betta passed at about age three. Then the male started singing often and soon had eggs…now I have 13. Ten tadpoles made it out of the tons of eggs. Had no special protection besides plants, wood and rocks. Fed them baby brine shrimp until they could eat their adult food. Love love love these frogs! Highly recommend and love the scape Matt ❤

I picked up 3 African Dwarf frogs from my local fish shop about 3 weeks ago. They’ve been so much fun to feed and watch!

I have kept and bred them for years. Just wanted to tell you your setup looks great. Tgey are remarkably hardy and pair well with any peaceful fish thry can not eat.
@brfingerСағат бұрын
If you ever decide to keep fish with them, I have had success with kuhli loaches, cardinal tetras. Bettas, honey and dwarf gouramis, corydoras. Hill stream loaches, and many more

Also overfeeding is easily done. Limit fatty foods like beef hearts and blood worms. Mine personally love baby brine shrimp, black worms. Vibrabites, and bug bites.

I have been thinking about dwarf frogs 🐸 🐸 for awhile. I don't know what I'll do. I also think about starting a shrimp tank. But both tanks would need a solid lid. My Dad wants me to take his and Mom's kitty. I agreed to take the cat, any shrimp and frogs need to be protected. (Gina)

You can also tell between the frogs by their eye position. The African dwarf frogs have their eyes on the side vs the much larger African clawed frogs have them directly on top of their head

I've been setting up a tank for my japanese rice fish fry, but now I want to make that tank a frog tank. I had 2 African dwarf frogs for about two years. One died and the other shortly after. They really do need to be in groups. They "hug" each other, and it's super cute. ❤

Great set up but as others have said you definitely need a tight fitting lid. They are expert escape artists. I've kept both ACF and ADF and they've all escaped my lidded tank through gaps I thought it would be impossible for them to fit through.

I've got 3 African Dwarf Frogs in a heavily planted 80 litre with some Costa Rican tetras,one pearl gourami and 4 neon tetras plus some ghost and cherry shrimps. I feed them blood worms and frog pellets and daphnia. They're absolutely hilarious and come to the top of the tank when I tap. Hours of fun ❤ The males tend to be smaller and slimmer. The females have a larger tail bud between their back legs 🎉

I'm not sure of the legalities in the UK for Elodea/Anacharis, but it's a great plant for ADFs. They'll hide in, breed in, and eat it. I've kept them off and on for about 20 years, and Elodea is a staple in their tanks.

Is there a reason you put the sand in after the wood/rock? Seen it done both ways but no ones explained why.
@粉骨砕身の伝説6 сағат бұрын
If you put the sand in before, the hardscape would move, being on top of it
@FishShopMatt5 сағат бұрын
Yeah depends on the setup if I know the fish won't dig and I have a thick plant substrate then I will place rocks on top. If I'm worried about digging or rocks moving I will place them on the bottom. Then depending on the weight and size I will sometimes use something to cushion them.

Are biodegradable filter media really a good idea? That means they will degrade in your filter. 🤷
@93kristofСағат бұрын
Why would you want degradable filter media? Bio media and sponges you never have to replace unless they fall apart, so you want them to be as resilient as possible. Carbon is already degradable as is.
@nightlite90093 сағат бұрын
I never like to see a cartridge in a filter, particularly if they are made from something that can't easily be replaced with a permenant alternative. Plastic is only a problem because greedy companies want after sales. There is ABSOLUTELY no justification for any cartridge in a filter. I'd rather we got rid if cartridges and used media that never needs to be changed, just rinsed and reused. It's better for our fish, aquariums and the Environment. The frogs are awesome though.
