Two questions about the Dora. 1, why lose the outboard 20mm (weight; maneuverability)? 2, inline V12 but still the radial cowling? Please explain.

The dora is an evolution of the FW190. Fockewulf's solution to the 190's high altitude lack of performance resulted in a longer nosed aircraft. The cowling still serves it's purpose as a cooling intake. Instead of directing air flow over the individual cylinders of a radial powerplant, it now directs airflow through the radiator assembly of it's liquid cooled V12. As for the reduction in cannon armorment, you're probably correct. Weight reduction

Kurt Tank designed the Dora to address the FW190's high altitude deficiencies. It should have replaced all ME-109 production.

When you take off with a Dora does the engine torque make your aircraft want to roll over.....like the Corsair?

That effect isn't really simulated in IL-2. You do get the torque effect, but generally the planes don't tend to roll over. I never noticed anything special when taking of in Doras or Corsairs. There are some planes with mean torque effects, though. Late Spitfires are pure evil :D Many bombers with multiple engines, turning into the same direction, can be tricky, too. At low speed, when the control surfaces don't have enough air flow to be effective, the torque is way too strong to be countered by the rudder.

Fishyyy, it's me (I asked in a previous video what to do because my mod files got weird and corrupted) I'm downloading the mods back and the 2nd download required for BAT corrupted almost instantly. It won't let me delete the file in WinRAR and I am currently downloading it again to see what happens. Any feedback?

Fw 190,for me it is more of a Fighter Bomber then a Fighter,i Preffer Me 410´s, Bf 109´s, Me262´s and Bf110´s, But the Fw 190 isnt the type of plane i would use for engaging Bombers.Still nice Video,Thumbs up!

During 1944-45 long nose propeller FW 190 Pilots shot down many B-17s Liberators Mosquitos Spitfires n P40 Thunderbolts but we're themselves shot down by either Hawker Tempest P40s or P-51 Mustangs.

Yes, the Luftwaffe used 20 mm/30 mm cannons, so a few hits were enough to bring down a heavy bomber.

We spoke about how much fuel we had left during the mission. At 50:02 i said: "Here 5, i got about 300 Liters left." There is a fuel gauge in the cockpit, which you check from time to time. There also is a red warning light that indicates when you are about to run out of fuel. And finally, there is a document called "aircraft guide" which gives you the information how many rpm are most economical.

Check out actual German gun camera films of FW 190 hammering on B-17s at close range .Tail gunner obviously dead as is ball turret crew but B-17,in this case a "gunship" keeps flying.

Game Settings: Flight Model: easy, Enemy Skills: IDIOT! One can't possibly watch the whole length of this video without committing suicide out of boredom in-between.

This was flown on realistic, the enemy skill wasn't touched. There are bookmarks in the description, so you can skip to the action.

I can give you that. Then again the A.I. programming of the game must be ridiculous because the enemy aircraft's evasive action leaves much to be desired. Compare if you like the A. I. of the Combat Flight Simulator 3 especially the Spitfire IXc ( you can opt for a "German" Spitfire as an option when flying an allied aircraft too in the dogfight mode ) WHEN the enemy skill is set to ACE to see the difference. I personally enjoy flying the P-51B set to carry 25% of its internal fuel with unlimited ammo in realistic flight setting against "German" Spitfire IXc - enemy skill: Ace . I prefer to have one wing-man against 2 enemy aircraft in an equal (head on) engagement. If you opt for a quantity of internal fuel bigger than 40% you are in for a defeat. The effect of fuel quantity and payload on the aircraft's performance is fantastic, Very satisfactory are also the A. I. skills.

Sounds interesting. The ai in il-2 is pretty good at dogfighting, the problem is that it uses every plane as a turn fighter. That's why P-47s are so easy to defeat. I only survived this, because i ran away. There is a near 0% chance of survival when you engage the escorts. Mustangs / Lightnings and Thunderbolts are deadly at high altitudes, even with the normal ai. There are over a hundred allied fighters in this mission, constantly spawning in near the bombers and camping airfields.

7 out of 10 times i kill a p-47 they break their tail

Because the bullets are directly hitting the tail, this was not common IRL however, many P47 pilots had to bail out because their plane was except for the fact that their tail controls were completely shot up.
