I actually was following this on the edge of my seat. At first it felt silly, but in a way not so different from watching your favourite football team!

Great videos guys good to hear the banter. Even on the eve of flight sim 2020. Il- 1946 still going to be in my flight sim tool box I still can enjoy the scenery interpretations. Back in the day we used to do a scavenger hunt shoot downs having to bring our computers to each others homes and set up a network. We would have to shout at each other for communication, usually it degenerated into last man flying.

FYI the fuel tanks on the Zero span centre wing from the root to half way along the wing and another behind the pilot seat(Reserve tank). The red lines on the wings outline the flaps on the underside , and the red dots are the fuel filler caps. I've made 5 scale plastic models of Zeros including the Hap shown and done alot of research, a comment was made during the video that the roll rate was poor, and the clipped wingtips were supposed to improve it but it only made it worse. It's interesting that the Zero was really an international aircraft in it's construction with parts sourced from Western and European nations. Eg. Cannon-Hothkiss(Belgium) Engine -Pratt and Whitney(US) Magnetos-Bosh(German) Tyres-Dunlop(English) Electrical system-General Electric(US) Nice full length mission.

the 20mm cannon is swiss oerlikon license produced by a japanese company. the 13.2 mm machineguns from late model zero use the french 13.2mm on a japanese copy of the m2 browning
@rodneypayne48275 жыл бұрын
@@tHeWasTeDYouTh I always get the 2 mixed up. Thanks for the clarification. List was done from memory, the Army used the Hothkiss on some of its heavy fighters but replaced with German cannon later.

@@rodneypayne4827 army used breda vickers 12.7 with Japanese designed explosive rounds on a Japanese enhanced copy of the m2 browning which fired 900m/s superior to the american m2 and Italian breda-safat. The Japanese navy used the 13.2 on a copy of the m2. Japan military in WW2 is so confusing, the army and navy used different munitions and guns for almost all their planes. they only shared engines and that was it

Are you sure the Sakae is a P&W engine clone? It seems like you're thinking of the Kotobuki and Hikari engines, a Bristol Jupiter license-build and P&W Wasp license-build respectively.
@rodneypayne48274 жыл бұрын
@@Derpy-qg9hn early A6M2s that crashed and were recovered after pearl harbour still had the P&W eagle engine badge on them with Japanese text. P&W supplied engines during the 30s to the Japanese aviation industry for use on civil and transport aircraft. Japans national airline used DC2 aircraft fitted with licence built P&W and Wright Cyclone engines, so it would have been easy to select one of these types of engine for a fighter because they were so readily available. There is an original USAAF Intel breakdown diagram in a museum in the US illustrating what components came from where, I saw it in a book a while ago.

Great video,one of the best so far. The two 38s colliding at time frame 48:10 I believe is some great stuff! How does that happen,and the one seemed to take no damage? Yes Tony you would be a great instructor!!
@Fishyyy4 жыл бұрын
The AI doesn't consider where other aircraft are, they tend to crash into everything around. It's usually a hard task to make them not crash. Both P-38s exploded.

I'm late but nice vid. Here's hoping 1c will make a pacific expansion for IL2: Great Battles. I myself like the European theater stuff more but it'll make a LOT of people happy when IL2: Battle of The Philippines releases.

@Fishyyy5 жыл бұрын
The AI can basically stop mid air, when it wants to increase the spacing to its lead. Sometimes, when already slow, it basically stops. When close to the ground, it crashes.
