Just found your video, thanks for sharing. I like watching videos of pilots flying to Airventure (some of us locals call it EAA) and listening to some of the ATC's at Fisk, sometimes get some good ones. I'm not a pilot, but I get a copy of the notes or notices from EAA website. Just wondering are the planes from Ripon to Oshkosh at 1800 or 2300 feet? Looks like the train tracks a along side of Highway 44. If so, looks like it would be a fun ride on 44 to see the flightline. Gonna be at Airventure 2023? aka EAA.
@SpreadAviation Жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for the comment. There’s two altitudes. 1800 and 2300 and there’s two speeds 90 and 130 respectively. Slower airplanes are lower. Sitting at the side of the road while airplanes fly by would be fun. You could also get really close to the ATC facility where they’re directing us. I’ll be there, give a follow on Instagram for updates. I’m usually around the IAC building next to Boeing Plaza.

@SpreadAviation Жыл бұрын
They are. Sometimes I say “gear down and welded”. It’s a habit pattern. There are two clubs: those who have landed with the gear up, and those that will. The point is to stay in the second club as long as possible.

@SpreadAviation Жыл бұрын
Opposite rudder certainly wasn’t intentional. More like insufficient rudder for the rate of roll. Not perfect, but still a good showing.
@SpreadAviation Жыл бұрын
Looking at it again, it’s a right roll with right rudder. You may be seeing the rudder horn which provides aerodynamic balance during rudder deflection. It is in front of the pivot so it moves opposite of the rest of the rudder.
@practiCalfMRI Жыл бұрын

@paulmorrow8372 Жыл бұрын
Im am not a pilot and obviously your wing rock was enjoyed by all (including tower). But I am curious, 91.303 defines “aerobatic flight” as “an intentional maneuver involving an abrupt change in the airplane’s attitude not necessary for normal flight”. Is a hard, 90 degree “wing rock” like that technically considered aerobatic flight? You mention aerobatic flight would be allowed at that time and place, so it would be fine. But I am just curious if a maneuver like that would be allowed whenever.
@SpreadAviation Жыл бұрын
Also that reg says “not necessary for normal flight”. There has cases tried in the past where airplane performed a maneuver perceived by the inspector to be an aerobatic maneuver, but when it went in front of the FAA they determined that for the operation that was being conducted, the maneuver in question was not unnecessary.
