Thanks for the great info. If I can ask, ever fly a Cap 232? Looks like a nice aerobatic plane. Can it be compared to the Ford-Chevy thing?

Critical thinking is asking Why? five times in a row. Just like a four year old. And you can just as easily discuss trading airspeed and altitude without going into the abstraction of energy. Engineers can groove on abstractions, not necessarily student pilots. Interconnected aileron and rudder were on the Navions, right after WWII, I believe. Head up display, not heads up display. And you used energy state when you meant airspeed only. Wing needs airspeed to generate lift, not energy. Frise ailerons seem to date from 1934. You've used energy at least three times when you meant airspeed. You tongue tied yourself trying to use energy. I quit at 35 minutes...
@SAFEPilotsАй бұрын
Fantastic presentation! I might have turned the title around. It seems bad things happen mostly when a pilot's enthusiasm exceeds their available energy (magical thinking) 🤣

Good news. You don’t really have to work your ears up until you’re close to FISKE and then you switch to tower. Unfortunately the GoPro that was doing audio lost power when I got to the airport so I don’t have that tower.

You referenced transition from a Decathlon - I'm doing basic acro training in one now. You mentioned stall behavior, but aside from the spin entries, didn't demo. Comparison? The landing approach looked Pitts'ish. Curious how difficult landing it is. No time in a Pitts, but have watched videos on landings and the rep is quite challenging to land. Is the Eagle the same, easier? Landing a Decathlon I didn't find too challenging.
@SpreadAviation3 ай бұрын
If you have the opportunity, try flying the Decathlon from the backseat. That's the same basic sight-picture of the biplanes. Handling characteristics were benign in the slow speed. No real bad habits and it communicates edge of the envelope feel nicely. I typically fly a continuously curving approach in all the aerobatic ships as it affords runway visibility until as low as possible.

Once you establish ground power get the APU up and running before you start programming everything it will stop the single FMC issue. You need power on both main busses, the battery only powers one.

If I can ask about the video. At the end in the rain. I haven't been to Florida in a while, but what I remember is it would downpour for 10-15 minutes and back to sunshine. Was it like that when you were in the rain? Also if can ask about the medical for a pilot license. Can a pilot be blind in one eye and still fly or would it be restricted? I was just wondering/thinking after I had a CRAO (Central retinal artery occlusion) a stroke in the eye. I didn't go blind in the eye, but had vision loss and my vision is slowly improving. I hope the doctors found the culprit that caused it and fixed it so it doesn't happen again, fingers crossed.
@SpreadAviation5 ай бұрын
This was a band of storms that passed through and it rained for about 2 hours with winds up to 30 knots. Definitely not the typical Florida afternoon rain. As far as the blind in one eye, consult an AME (but do not apply for a medical yet) about what would be required for a Statement of Demonstrated Ability (SODA).
