Great update, Matt - a must for all Fisker Ocean owners, especially those getting their Oceans recently. We are in a new era of EV: the Be Prepared era. You will want to be knowledgeable about how to service your car, how to access the service hood area, where the 12v battery is located, etc - as that AAA technician rolling out to help you may not have the tools needed, or may be seeing a Fisker for the first time - YOUR Fisker Ocean.

Matt, thanks for the great video. QUESTION: Would I only need this if the Main battery goes below 5% SOC which then will drain the 12V battery? Is this something I need to buy right now or later. SO, like when would I be concern about the 12V battery draining if I have Software version 2.0 that suppose to take care of any 12v issues. Thanks

You can use the toolkit anytime you need access to under the hood. Such as cleaning/installing accessories, checking fluid levels, etc. There are times where the 12V battery may get too low - for example, a OTA update that can stress the battery - I suggest a tender and battery monitor. I have a video coming out on this in a week or so.

Hi Matt, do you think the pry bar will stay connected to the hood when the car goes through a car wash, with dryer blowing all the water off the car? And thanks for all your insight!!!

Good question. I don't use automatic carwashes, so I can test with a leaf blower sometime. Thanks for the comment!

Thank you for all you do! I was under the impression that if the 12 volt is dead and needs a jump, you cannot open the car. Which is why you would have the emergency tool kit with 12 volt jumper under the hood. But, what then is the need for the 12 volt “tender” ? Seems that you can’t have the 12 volt jumper in the actual car because if the 12 volt is dead , you can’t open the car to get it …I think? Which is why the kit is accessible on the outside of the car. So if I have the jumper kit under the hood, what would the benefit of the tender be? Thanks for your time.
@MTNRanger3 ай бұрын
Two different things. The battery tender helps offload energy use from the high voltage battery pack by reducing the need to charge the 12V battery. This is helpful if you are away from the car for a week or more (or waiting for the 2.0 update to download and install). The 12V jump is if the battery is not strong enough to start the car. You may get a battery tender that is powerful enough to act as both a jump starter (usually 20A) and a tender 4-8A). Yes, keeping the jumper under the hood is due to the fact you can't get in the cabin with a dead 12V battery.

@@MTNRangerI watched a few past videos you made since my last question. Based on your insight it seems we do not need a battery tinder if we are running 2.0? So right now, per your video and purchase suggestions, I am only going to have the tool kit and charger under the hood. And just make sure I stay between 20%-80% charge. I’d like to ask you another question, if I was out and about and the 12 volt is 0 or close to it ….if I use the jump kit , is it just to start the car and once started I should be able to disconnect and drive the car home etc… is it only when I stop the car and power down or lock the car that the car may require an additional jump? I’m very new to EVs and had my FOO since oct 2023, so apologies for my lack of knowledge. Im still learning and folks like you are truly appreciated 👏. Im kinda referencing combustion engines and getting a traditional jump, once the car is jumped the car will generally drive and work with the alternator, but stop again for long period and …. Maybe a jump again.
@MTNRanger2 ай бұрын
@@troychrisman7682 Yes, you would jump and then disconnect after a few minutes. The high voltage battery pack should start charging it at that point. Think of it as an EV is always "on", if you stop, it should start up again. However, a lot depends on the condition of the 12V battery. I can't guarantee a jump will always work. If a 12V battery is totally gone it will not jump (can happen on an ICE car too).

Some people are reporting 12V battery issues with the 2.1 update. So I am keeping it attached until I get the update. Since I already own the tender, it seems worth doing for myself.

Your link is for a 1/4 inch socket yet the video states it a 13mm. Which is correct? I understand it’s 1/4” on the wrench side. Also what the size of the smaller socket?

Thanks for your efforts. However, let me be the first to say that it is INSANE that this is considered to be the least bit necessary. What a shame what this company has done to its customers.

Are these vehicles even supported still? I work in a high end shop and haven’t seen one since the bankruptcy
@MTNRanger3 ай бұрын
Thousands are being driven daily. They don’t just go poof if the company goes bankrupt. Owners are working on support alternatives with third parties. :)

Are you ever worried the clips may snap?
@MTNRanger3 ай бұрын
Since there are so many clips, the weight is evenly distributed. Also the way the cover is designed, the surrounding panels also support it.
