Frankly , he shouldn't have recorded the conversation without telling the guy from Fisker that he was being recorded MUCH LESS go and post it on YT...Jeez!!! I wonder if every single Fisker customer gets such personal treatment. Phone calls, fixing the car, etc...
@CruorCanis3 ай бұрын
I did. I know all have not, but I got personal calls multiple times for my very minor issues -- most dealing with a third party delivery team.
@logantravis20843 ай бұрын
clearly not. This guy already had someone else out, Jordan, whom this guy said to "forget" about him. Add that to his explanation about tiered technician levels and it is obvious that he is only getting such "intensive service" or personal treatment because of the massive freakout the youtube video caused. I am thinking that Fisker execs wants to send a top-level tech out to make sure this car is in as good of a shape as possible and then probably get a follow-up video to try and mitigate the damage to save face. That is pretty obv. Fair enough but cat is out of the bag and clearly MKBHD is under no obligation and probably isn't one to be easily bought off. We shall see how this develops.
@logantravis20843 ай бұрын
I would be interested in someone doing a video demonstrating their experience with this tiered system of field technicians. It could be pretty rote and uninteresting or it could help explain a little more about the car company and its real motives and problems. I am really focusing his use of the term "amateur" technicians
@CruorCanis3 ай бұрын
@logantravis2084 You do realize that this is how most everything works. Hell, look at American medicine (the UK is also pushing for this in their medical system). You have tiered training/ knowledge levels. Essentially, NPs --> PAs --> physicians. If it's good enough for your life/health, why then wouldn't it be good enough for your car?
@psykalag3 ай бұрын
@@CruorCanis I think the point is that they are trying to rush this update due to mkbhds high profile while a regular customer would just have to suffer through this. And if/when they get the update, it's going to be any tier service person not the head engineer making sure it goes great

Same thing happened when Henrik Fisker released the Fisker Karma back in 2011. The base price was $102k (2011 dollars). After producing 2,450 Karmas, Fisker declared bankruptcy in 2013. Not only were there persistent battery fires, but the Karma that Consumer Reports purchased broke during their initial testing. They stated, "We buy about 80 cars a year and this is the first time in memory that we have had a car that is undriveable before it has finished our check-in process." The fault was traced to a defective battery caused by a misaligned welding robot at the factory. If Henrik Fisker does a THIRD startup, it's probably best that he doesn't use his name as that company's brand anymore.

If Fisker released the car with minimal software problems and fixed them within 2 months then Fisker would be doing much better but it had been at least 5 to 7 months after the Fisker released the car and when this guy did his review. It seems obvious that the software will never work well if they could not solve the problems by the time of the review. I canceled my Ocean One reservation in part because of the poor software reviews back in Oct 2023. I was not keeping up to date with Fisker until the last 2 weeks and they are still having significant software problems. I definitely dodge a bullet by not following through with the purchase. Fisker ignored their customers and this is what happens.

@_BangDroid_3 ай бұрын
That's just how software is developed these day, from apps and OS's to games and car firmware. They get it just functional for release and find all the bugs in the wild. I don't agree with it but when everyone is doing it, it makes it hard to compete if you're the only one paying for testing and QA. You get your product to launch early, or to meet optimal market release times, roll out updates as they come.
@jsilva70052 ай бұрын
@@_BangDroid_That may be acceptable in other industries, but not for a vehicle. Especially the first vehicle they are releasing.
@jsilva70052 ай бұрын
@@_BangDroid_The following information comes directly from former and current Fiskee employees. “It actually is completely his and his wife’s fault. It is a public company but they own a majority share, so they have run the company like their own personal landscaping business. The wife is the CFO and COO but is completely out of her depth. On top of that they have hired multiple family members to high level director rolls within the company. There are at least 4 family members, but it’s hard to know how many more there are because they don’t all have the same last name. These family members are completely incompetent and are not qualified to be in these rolls. The wife is the CFO, but she should not be allowed anywhere near the companies finances. Her and her family members regularly berate employees. They blame employees for the errors they themselves caused. The non-family directors they have hired are completely ignored and their ideas are not even considered. The Fisker’s are a poison. They have destroyed the company from the inside with their nepotism and narcissism.” So this guy completely deserves the blame, along with his wife.

Like most problems in companies - There's an issue. It was probably brought up before the car was released and the bosses said it'll be fine. It wasn't fine, now the bosses are angry. Their inaction caused them to be embarrassed, and do they hold their hands up? No. They lash out at employees to cover up their own incompetence. Yes its profiling and assuming but having been in situation with people that use that exact style of language, I would be incredibly worried. That’s what you’re curious about? When it seems like Fisker wants to hunt MKBHD down?
@CruorCanis3 ай бұрын
@rw3476 Did you miss the part where he goes "do you want his contact info?" To which the servicer says "no, I wanted to find the owner to help remedy the issue with the car." Trying to spin things? Or just didn't listen closely?
@davidcampos65493 ай бұрын
@@CruorCanis At 4:18 he says AGAIN if you can tell me who this kid is which is very clear he wants his information despite acting like he didn't want it. When he referred to MKBHD as a kid and a mouthpiece they were hostile.

He is a kid. There was no lie. There was no hostility. You're grasping at straws.

I don't know. I don't think the call was that bad. Honestly from the hype I expected much worse. They were doing damage control. Thats what people/companies do. He didn't seem dishonest or shady. Just a guy trying to fix shit because his boss told him to. Not even sure why he's mad the phone call went public. Nothing really bad was said. He might just be mad that he wasn't told he was being recorded but that's almost always a certainty when calling a business.

Right, the only wierd thing is how he wants to get this youtubers information so badly. His boss probably was angry but he clearly has no idea whats going on and even needs to ask the dealer to get the story right. No chimping out at all, just a stressed guy fearing for his job, fucking social media man....

why record and post this on YT, throwing the dude under a bus. Hes trying his best to resolve the issues and provide customer service, if anything kudos to Fisker

Something's not on the up-and-up with this video. The tech doesn't sound legit; rather staged. Posted to make the company look desperate or not professional. Who filmed this and why?

Well MKBHD’s video clearly got a lot of traction and people were waiting for Fisker’s response. It would be reasonable for the owner to record the call. Plus his dealership gets more attention lol

I'm a software developer who's worked very closely with field technicians. The more "important" the see themselves, the more they act like this guy. Big egos with poor social skills. Usually pretty good techs though.

@BartSantello Bought a ton of Fisker stock, did we? I've been on this road before - trying to save a giant company through YT comments on videos that (rightfully) bash it. This video seems legit though

Feels like it is staged. How in the world are you ready to film this before the guy from Fisker called? Hmmmmm....
@mcjedwards3 ай бұрын
Are you kidding? You just get the camera out before picking up the phone lmao. "xyz dealership how can I help you?.... yes I'm abc from Fisker. Can I talk to George please?.... George there's an abc from Fisker on line 2" *Gets camera out*
@LCARSx323 ай бұрын
Someone's never tried calling the owner of a dealership before lol. You don't just call up and say "I want to talk to the owner" and they transfer you lol. He knew who was going to be on the line before he picked up.

Mkhbd sounded like he is butthurt that he didn’t get a car for a review. To be honest who reviews a car without washing it first. He deliberately made it look bad and now all car companies would send him a car for review to avoid this
