Possibly because it's better in its own way. I'm not saying the vocal version doesn't have its merits, but the instrumental conveys a very different atmosphere. Personally I feel that while the vocal theme is more of a, "We can do this together"/"Teamwork yeah!" vibe, the instrumental (at least without the positive-sounding chorus--like the one we originally heard) does a very good job of conveying the desperation and "grit your teeth and fight" feeling that would come from being one of the only few people resisting what feels like unbeatable dystopian control. I personally like the instrumental theme better, mostly because I got attached to that "fight even though it seems hopeless" feeling when I saw the first trailer and heard the theme for the first time. I'm definitely not disappointed that the game decided not to go that serious with its atmosphere, but it's very nostalgic to remember how I originally imagined it was going to be.

I thought it was a pretty good storyline though how the classic sonic and the rookie works together! I hope they kinda do the same in the next games just please make the game a little bit better. I also think the war storyline was good with Infinite and how team Sonic went down and back up! The OSTS were fire though like Sonic Frontiers.

I prefer this to the lyrics. I’m probably alone on this but this is so much better than the original. For one. You can here the guitar. It fells nicer without the voice but the lyrics still noticeable. Also the “instrumental” and in the original is weird. Here it fells less forced
