Invincible was Arthas' horse that tragically died because, Arthas was riding fast over a blind hill, that was actually a small cliff. Both of his front legs were broken in the fall and Arthas had to kill him. He swore he'd get the power someday to bring him back. After he became the Lich King, it was one of his first acts.

that's not what happened according to the wiki

@@Theokondak That is literally what's on the wiki and also in the book (Arthas - Rise of the Lich King by Christie Golden) which I highly recommend you read because it's phenomenal.

3:00 the way he became the Lich King is so fascinating, sad and written so well it's unreal. It could be argued that it was by choice, if you factor in how his choices were constantly influenced by events and bad faith actors along the way. His fall and treachery is ultimately a gradual descent into fanaticism, madness. He is the literal embodiment of the saying "the road to hell is paved with good intentions". Such a great villain.

This wasn't detailed in other comments, but Arthas helped deliver invincible, and it was his Horse from it's birth; They had a favourite jump, and Invinicble's death is Arthas fault, as he tried to make the jump during a snowstorm. He then had to stab invincible through the heart to stop it's suffering.

I dont play WoW for years now, but played from classic to WotLK exessive... and the music was always the soul of the game. It was soo well written, fits perfect to the settings. Still getting goosebumps when i hear the old dalaran Theme ;)

Sadness comes from Arthus losing his horse Invincible, who he had from a young age.

Oh really? I am glad I wasn't way off to feel that vibe.

This is played both in the announcement trailer you've watched and the end cutsceene after we defeat the Lich King (you should really watch the 'Fall of The Lich King end cinematic' for a little bit of extra context to the Shadowlands trailer) in the Wrath of The Lich King expansion. The song (sung in a made up language - there are lysics versions out there with translations to English) is about young Prince Arthas' faithful steed since childhood, Invincible. As a teenager, after Invincible slipped and broke his leg, Arthas decided to put the horse out of its misery himself, and he never got over the loss of his companion. Years later, on his path to becoming the Lich King, Arthas rose the horse to serve him in undeath - all of this happens before and during Warcraft III.

Definitely sadness and tragedy. Arthas was a Paladin with royal blood who made some very poor choices to gain power.

Arthas Menethil was a Paladin Prince of Lordaeron before taking up Frostmourne (the sword which corrupts the wielder) in order to gain power to defeat the Scourge (undead invasion force). I don't remember where Invincible came from, but it is highly sought after in World of Warcraft as it is a very rare drop from the final boss in WotLK. He basically sacrificed his body and soul to fight the invading forces but ended up their ruler through the corruption by the sword.

Pretty sure Invincible was his horse from before everything. He ressurected it when he became the lich king i believe.

If you haven't read any of the lore.... I can say that this song is indeed sadness of a guy that tried to protect his people and ended up paying worse than the ultimate price for it.

you can say whatever about current blizzard, but their cinematics and music were always at least on par with Japan and years ahead of anything western games produced

Sylvanas is kinda linked to Arthas as he killed her and raised her as a banshee. She hates him for that
