People don't realize that even though professional fight boxing gloves (8oz-10oz) are twice as heavy as MMA fight gloves (4oz), there's barely any padding on the knuckle area of the boxing gloves. Most of the MMA glove's padding is on the knuckle area, while the boxing gloves' padding is distributed around the whole hand for stability and protection of those tiny bones in the hands. And when it comes to mexican style pro fight boxing gloves such as Everlast MX/Cleto reyes; it's a no brainer - there's minimal padding on the knuckles. Just a tiny amount of horsehair, light sheet of foam and then leather. I would never want to get punched by a pro boxer wearing pro fight boxing gloves.

I was merely stating some details on pro fight boxing gloves specifically mexican ones - mentioning why they aren't any less dangerous than MMA gloves just because they are twice the weight. Dispelling the consensus of "MMA gloves hit harder because they are lighter". They are both equally devastating in their own ways. MMA gloves have thicker knuckle padding while being half the weight of boxing gloves - allowing for more speed but less protection of hands due to lack of padding in the other areas of the hands. Boxing gloves (especially Mexican ones) have almost no knuckle padding, are twice the weight (of MMA gloves), allowing for slightly slower but heavier blows while also protecting the hands more due to material distributed around the entire hands/wrists. Makes sense for maximum damage during the long course of a boxing match. And either way, both types of fighters wear a considerable amount of handwrap/gauze under the gloves anyways, so either way there's no actual raw knuckle contact, just more likely so on the boxing glove. Punches by pro boxers in either glove, will always be more devastating than MMA fighters by glove - that's a given. MMA fighters have to look out for so many other things so it's natural that they are caught by surprise by punches quite often - leading to stuns and knockouts. Sorry if it seemed like I insulted you by making it seem like I was downplaying the damage potential of MMA gloves. Must feel nice and safe throwing insults behind a fake profile huh? Fun fact: boxing gloves in the 1950-1960s pro fight gloves where 6oz-8oz the 6oz was for lightweight and middleweight and 8oz was for light heavyweight and heavyweight thats why when you see old fights the announcer says that they are wearing 8 ounce gloves

I dont know how everlast exists. They are way behind the competition. The best fight gloves i have come accross are grants, followed by rival and winning. Your point of standardised padding and a foam density measurement is a must. Foam integrity and hand placement must be checked between rounds by each corner.

After using mX 10oz gloves for training , heavy bag , mitts , and cobra bag , these are the worst . No knuckle support and weird finger placement.. never again getting these 😅😂

They must get together Brands Associated Organisations Trainers and Fighters and come to an agreement in uniforming the sizes as well imho weighing gloves by using the ounce method which was designed for horse hair is just archaic for example not all 16oz gloves are the same you can have a 16oz glove with less padding around the knuckle area compared to another 16oz gloves since some manafacturers distribute the weight in other areas of the glove like the wrist for example.

It would really be not too hard to standardized the knuckle padding . Get the foam sample and do some drop ball test . I remember when the 4-layer foam padding became standard for amateur boxing in the late 80's. I bough a pair of Ringside amateur fight gloves then. The padding was absolutely great. I used those gloves for hitting the heavy bags. They really protected my sore knuckles. The padding was a mixture of open cell and closed cell foam. If they are going to allow horse hair, they should mandate closed cell foam in front of it . Not just that really soft open cell foam whose main function is to FORM/SHAPE the glove . Better yet, just get rid of horse hair . Nevada should start the ball rolling . They should tell Reyes to come up with a standard padding . That would force the others to follow . Maybe Reyes can build around a 1/2 inch thick Latex foam and go from there . Winning and Grant orthopedic gloves should pass the standards already . They hit soft .

Remember. All boxer killed in match last year. None of them were killed by everlast Mx. If I remembered correctly one of the tragedy happened with everlast elite. At the end of the day. Boxing is a dangerous game, and we love it because of some ko and staff. And I really love this glove as well. Why should it be illegal

I think they’re good for pad. Give you good punch feedback. You could see canelo work on pad and bag with them back in the days. But of course, they probably won’t last a long time if you don’t mind buying new gloves every few months.

The gloves are designed too last 12 rounds then too be never used again| I can’t get over people using them on the bags & pads sessions they aren’t made for that l Basically a 12 round items to be thrown away after that !

Fight gloves are normally 5 x 6 rounds for fights people sometime use them for light bag work and pads - I sometime will use my winning gel pads in older fight gloves so that I can still do a bit of pads with 10oz obviously NEVER to be used to fight in once they have exceeded their ‘Fight’ rounds

Some people use gloves like these to strengthen there wrist and hand on the bags. You don't want to get use to too much padding in a glove before big fights.
