Really lovely, thank you. I hadn’t thought of applying metta in the way you describe. I have been reflecting for a long time whether I am giving enough in my life. In this way, I can be in service much more.

Thanks, Liam. By the way, could you explain the difference between the actual letting go (releasing thoughts) and psychological suppression?

Great question. Psychological suppression is when a thought arises and you push it away with a "that shouldn't be there" or "I don't want this thought" feeling. Letting go is when a thought arises and you allow it to be (with no judgment of it) and then you let it pass on by, as it will when you don't "grasp" onto it with more thoughts about it. The relishing step is helpful here, as it pairs the feeling of letting it go with a pleasurable sensation, which can change your relationship with a negative thought. Hope this helps!

This is very common. First of all thank you so much for doing the course. If you’re not feeling any happy emotions, one technique that may help is practicing forgiveness alongside loving-kindness. Sometimes, emotions other emotions block our ability to feel happiness or joy. Offering forgiveness to yourself and others can help release these mental barriers. As mentioned try following the Heroic Release here kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6LXloR3n7aee9E As a recap, you can try saying silently in your mind: ‘I forgive myself for not understanding. I forgive others for not understanding.’ Repeat this gently for a few minutes and resting in the openness and relief where possible This practice helps to soften the heart, and over time, it can open you up to more peaceful and joyful emotions. If you’re struggling with specific issues, you can focus on forgiving particular events or people as part of this process. Then, return to the loving-kindness practice and see if it flows more easily. By incorporating forgiveness, you may find that the absence of happiness turns into a deeper sense of relief and lightness, which can gradually transform into joy. If this does’t help after a few days please reach back out 🙂
