PLEASE do a video on alkaline water vs tap, filtered, etc. This is a hot topic at my work. Everyone at my work is obsessed with alkaline water.
@KeepCalmAndDieAlone7 жыл бұрын
Anthony Sullivan OK, I have an advanced degree in Biochemistry so I'll give you the low down. The human body has a blood pH of 7.4 (slightly basic). This range is closely regulated within 0.5 pH range via the Bicarbonate Buffer System. Alkaline water has no effect on blood pH or stomach acid chemistry. Alkaline water is all complete bullshit.
@Mrsambuman7 жыл бұрын
Also if it would change ph it would be stupid cause you need acidic stomach for getting all the nutrients, and it could only alkalize your stomach(a little)

Funny how the placebo effect works. That, and I'd imagine anyone who's hopped on the alkaline water bandwagon most likely increased their water intake enough to make actual changes in their appearance or health.

As told in the video, there was no clear definition of organic at first, so i don't think there was a clear common goal of "organic mouvement" either. Also the definition of "organic" changes per country; so what's organic, let's say in france is different that what's organic in the states, that's by definition. The fact that organic food has lover pesticides by the way, is founded on science and on common sense, in probably every country. Lots of people are willing to pay for the best ingredients, so why not buying fresh organic ones if you have the money and the difference does not bother you? just saying...
@wilaustu7 жыл бұрын
Let's not turn this into an us vs. them thing, dude. That's what's really moronic, and petty. The idea of organic being healthier appeals to conventional wisdom and good intentions, but as it turns out based on scientific research it's not such a true statement. That's all you have to tell people. I assumed organic was better until I heard Dr. Mike's arguments and now my view has changed.

Love the content, Mike & JTS. A topic I'm very interested in is the effects of marijuana on exercise performance. I know this isn't a topic you guys touch on typically, but you may find it interesting if you're not already familiar with it. Sure, most know that it's bad for your lungs if smoked, it makes you hungry, etc., but most don't know the deeper side effects. I've read plenty of articles on the topic which seemed to contradict one another, but it's time to cut the bullshit. For me, I smoke at night because it was one of the first things that actually allowed me to get a good night's sleep. Now I'm finding that strains higher in THC keep me awake almost more than not smoking at all, while other strains knock me out and allow me to wake up fresh instead of waking up multiple times per night. Now one of the articles I read showed that weed reduced REM sleep and prolonged slow wave sleep. This seems like it could be a good thing considering slow wave sleep is beneficial to muscle recovery and the release of HGH. One downside I can see with this is the fact that REM sleep is reduced. From what I've gathered, REM sleep is highly beneficial to the motor patterns learned through the day in order to really ingrain those movements. If you're in a sport such as weightlifting (where technical proficiency could be considered more important than it is in powerlifting), this is obviously very bad. It seems as though you're taking two steps forward, one step back. So it almost seems sport specific to me where marijuana use has its merits. Increases muscle recovery, reduces ability to fully "learn" the movement patterns you repeated throughout the day. One other article I read (which was all speculation, i believe) claimed that marijuana could alter the mTOR signalling pathway. If this is true, it would seem to counteract the benefits of slow wave sleep's effect on recovery. There is much work to be done in this area, but I think high CBD Indica strains may be beneficial to athletes whereas high THC sativa strains may be detrimental. Thoughts, if any? Thanks again for this content, we appreciate the work you guys put in. I look forward to hopefully meeting with you all some time in the future, not as a fan, but either an elite level athlete or coach.

I don’t get everything organic, but certain organic foods definitely taste better, mainly bc it’s more fresh just like Dr. Mike said. I would say, EATING SEASONALLY is the best way to go. Eating seasonal whole foods is the best way to make sure you’re eating quality foods because that is the food that is the most fresh and has traveled the least distance.

The number one guy in the world who understands EVERYTHING that is going on behind the scenes in terms of the issues with organic food, the bogus organic food labels that are supported by companies like mars bars, M & M, General mills and others is Paul Chek. REAL organic food is going to generally require an individual to order from a local farm, grow their own food, become a part of a co-op or head to the farmers markets and know how to ask the right questions. On another note the Demeter association has shown beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is a method of farming that produces food far more nutritious than Organically grown food and regenerates the health of the soil at an exponential rate compared to Organic farming. It is known as BioDynamic farming. Unfortunately I cannot remember the numbers off the top of my head, but below is a link to the first video in a five video series by Paul Chek (best Holistic Health Practitioner in human history IMO and a Legendary Strength Coach) on "What Is Organics?" He goes in depth about the politics going on behind the scenes, how the sun and moon interact with the soil and why things like Organic matter and microorganisms are so important. He grew up on a farm and has spent a lifetime making a career of helping people heal who were "deemed" medical failures by other approaches like the Allopathic medical system, physical therapy, psychology etc. All of this on top of being a Legendary Strength Coach. It wouldn't surprise me if the JTS coaches know who he is. I'm not saying Dr. Mike Israetel is wrong. I completely agree with him on some aspects. Buying conventional if it is all you can afford is FAR BETTER than buying BS. I'm simply saying he has not looked nearly as deeply into what Organics is as Paul Chek has. I myself have to constantly educate friends, family and clients about BS organic labels and how to find the real stuff these days. As stated above your best options are co-ops, ordering from nearby farms for direct to door delivery (ideally after visiting the farm to see what's really going on), and farmer's markets. Organic and Biodynamic farming are about both improving the health of a dying planet and improving our own health, both of which are required to experience human life to the highest level (meaning, fulfillment). My final note is that scientific studies have approved every drug that has ever had to pull off the market for KILLING thousands of people. Let's keep that in mind when we're talking the health of the planet and the studies saying "conventional farming isn't killing people or the planet." Let's not forget that in 1967 a bought and paid for Harvard study said that SATURATED FAT rather than SUGAR was the cause of HEART DISEASE. WE STILL HAVE PEOPLE FOLLOWING THAT ADVICE TO THIS DAY AND SUFFERING IMMENSELY BECAUSE OF IT, my own mother being one of them. A lot of science is bought and paid for these days and we must always remember that. WHAT IS ORGANICS? PART 1 - By Paul Chek kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXrdn3Skead3lcU - If you have the time here is a podcast Paul did very recently where he goes in depth about the soil and what we can do to contribute to the healing of it and ultimately the planet. I SUGGEST WATCHING the 5 part series first and then proceeding to the podcast. ONNIT PODCAST WITH PAUL CHEK - kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5_OeZ1-haxjrq8 Thank you for reading. Let us all aim to become Holistic Humans, heal the planet and help others heal every single day. Much love, David Zahry :)

@sidneybales90627 жыл бұрын
blair parkinson even more specific is that it is SYNTHETIC chemical free. Organic food growers have to use nearly 3x more fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides because the organic chemicals just aren't strong enough. While the population wants organic they also want their foods to Look like the regular products. So the organic grower has to add more of everything. Organic is complete junk science. Look at the definition of "natural " which is even more ambiguous. You are right. Somehow it has been turned into an health thing when it is truly an ethical thing with decisions made with emotions

I don't agree with the nutritional statements made. I have been comparing nutritional values on organic vs normal foods for over a decade and there is a difference. Non organic food is sprayed with chemicals that are being stacked on each other year after year accumulating, what's going to happen when you can't drink spring water or eat river fish because pestacide run off? Look at the round up lawsuit if you think it's of no concern. Also on feeding the world, we have a population problem, not a food problem. We need to solve that because if the population keeps growing we will NEVER have enough food. The nutritional problem with food mainly lies in farmers not rotating crops(which is required for a food to be considered organic) so they can fit as much food as possible in each harvest. Come to my house and eat a organic bell pepper grown in my back yard vs a local non organic bell pepper and I promise you taste the difference. Everyone else that I know tastes it too and half of them don't buy organic. Peppers don't stay fresh long so the fresh food statement on taste doesn't apply here. On the poor people subject, there are countless videos on how to eat organic on a budget and I used to be someone who needed to do so himself because of being poor. It's very possible. Most of the poor people I know/knew have a budgeting problem and if you gave them an extra 500 a month they would blow it. If you don't believe me go to the hood or trailer park right after tax refund season. And finally I would say that the biggest difference between organic and non would be meat. Let alone not ingesting hormones or antibiotics, or feeling bad u supported animals being raised in fucked up conditions, go buy grass fed organic ground Chuck then normal and tell me there's not a big difference. draxe.com/is-organic-really-better/

it's basically a reflex that prevents you from lifting weights that are too heavy,so you don't get injured.And supposedly you can desensitize that reflex by doing heavy ego lifting and partial reps with super heavy weights (pin squats,board presses etc).It sounds stupid to me ,but I would like to hear an expert's opinion.

Cellar Door I was aware of what they were, wasn't sure what the bro science was. I haven't read any literature specifically towards that but I'd venture to assume that even if it does effect them the much greater threat for injury would be increased shear forces on tendons and muscle imbalances. I am interested as to whether anyone has more insight but I think the overarching response is to just not partial rep/ ego lift

But! 1: Conventional farming uses alot more manure, which spills out alot of N, P and K into nearby rivers and streams which cause eutrophication and acidification of the land. 2: Secondly it's much more prone to call on diseases because of the monoculture. This monoculture also harms the foodweb of the ground (mycorizza-soilbasis etc.) way more which fucks up the land and makes it non functioning for a very long time. 3: And thirdly the pesticides do harm alot of the top predators because of the accumilation in the foodweb. In those cases organic is way better. But to be fair. We just have to many humans, we need to shrink the world population in order to sustain our world.

Are you one of those 'GMOs are bad' fanatics?

Haha this video is a bust! Stating that the nutritional value is net approximately the same?! Those studies (That weren't properly referenced) DID NOT measure levels of Phytonutrients or enzymatic co-factors!!! Not to mention the fact that organic vs conventional is all about QUALITY vs QUANTITY. The only argument against organic is really quality control if its organic from out of country, and the earths soil is severely depleted of many nutrients that is needed for food similar to before the Industrialization period started.

ONLY argument against it? did you even watch the video or do proper research, or look at Chipotle's major outbreak of e coli? Stop being in denial. You're fighting a cause that has no merit. Eat healthy, and encourage others to do the same. Why do you have to attack non-organic. There is a massive reason why pesticides are used; hence why some pesticides are still used on organic foods. Stop being ignorant

Though not quite as tangible as nutrition science (we'll call it), the point that's not discussed (because honestly, most americans are way to shallow to grasp this) is that Montsanto has enormous (ENORMOUS) control over global nutrition. The first thing that jumps out is the positive aspect of this; a very well connected, powerfully funded corporation can be responsive in real time to minute changes in global food consumption. but think about that, why should profit be contemplated as part and parcel of FOOD. Fucking food, shit some people dont even have. Why wouldn't it be better if control and governmental/capitalistic affiliations were force severed? What if the global eating had integral control over their own diet? What if commodity sharing were direct from people to people? Sure, about a thousand people on the entire face of the earth would go broke, but who gives a fuck? Let them fend for themselves

I respect both you and this channel when it comes to lifting knowledge but it's clearly evident you're out of your depth here! I work on a organic farm and several things you said just aren't true. IDK if the studies you were reading were produced by Monsanto, as is normally the case, but no one has any idea how many cases of cancer are attributed to pesticides each year. Basically what you're saying is its OK for them to drench your food in poison and that has NO effects on the plant/soil microbiology!? Stick to talking about your expertise otherwise you're misinforming a lot of people. Cheers

That's not what HE is saying. That is what the vast majority of the scientific literature says.
@jeremycrow17967 жыл бұрын
Brock Martin The vast majority of information is co-authored by scientists receiving grants from GMO magnates. I don't care if Einstein or Tesla said GMOS are ok! GMOS were created to withstand more poison (Roundup) because the plants and bugs are creating a tolerance. Where do you think that poison goes? Why are we as a civilization seeing such a coincidental spike in pesticide use and cancer? It's common sense. You eat all the poison you want. BTW I'm sure the fact pesticides are killing off earths best pollinators, the bee, is of no consequence to these "scientists". Look up Einsteins quote on bees and you'll get a sneak peak inside Pandoras box.

well said, this video is complete horseshit & he clearly is clueless in the fact that many many scientists are funded by the very people that are in bed with big pharma to create sickness & disease for the purpose of greed!!

TheJuranomo My position is solid. I've said nothing about conspiracy theory yet you interject it into the conversation because you have no argument. It's OK keep eating that Roundup and drinking that sodium flouride. Simpleton

this guy always makes me cringe. I don't know why I watch this. I don't mean to troll because it's not my thing but I do have a few concerns with this and other videos of his. why doesn't he name the scientific journals that support his claims? where are his statistical figures that support his analysis? personally, I eat organic on flesh foods that I end up eating the skin such as strawberries, apples, grapes but food like avocados where the skin is peeled I just go for what's availableand cheap. also, I don't know where you shop that organic foods are that expensive, I'm usually paying maybe another $1 on items that are $10 or so. $1 over x amount of times isn't gonna break me.

Citing sources in a video would lose people’s interest and distrust their attention. He has them, just continuing to say “according to” over and over would be impossible to listen to.
@sumsar016 жыл бұрын
Why would he cite meta studies? If you want to read thousands of papers go ahead. But unlike all the retards the cite studies they aren't even qualified to read, Mike is actually a qualified scientist.

Pesticides vs peanuts is an argument? Shouldn't the argument be various types of pesticides and no pesticides? Also, how are these cancer rates determined and who put out the studies?
@purplebeast16277 жыл бұрын
Replying to myself. Also, to show how little value mainstream science has, let it be pointed out that for a long time we were told fat and salt is bad. As for the effects of GMOs, how are they studied? Unless one takes a long term approach say over 20+ years, it can't really be demonstrated what the effects of GMOs are.

It would be better if there were weights being moved or other action worthy of video. Hell, visuals of food, infographics etc would also work. Might as well do a podcast.if it's gonna be a guy sitting.

Your argument saying you shouldn't worry about pesticides because there's chemicals everywhere is pretty sad and closed minded. "The pesticide atrazine can turn male frogs into females that are able to mate and successfully reproduce. Here, two male frogs mating. The larger animal on the bottom has been completely feminized by atrazine exposure and can produce viable eggs. Original Image Credit: Tyrone B. Hayes, the University of California, Berkeley."

If you have to worry about pesticides, you'd better be worrying about getting shot, getting raped, or getting sold trafficked because those are much more likely to occur than getting cancer from pesticides. It's fine that you want to avoid pesticides, but you'd better never leave your house because there are much more deadly things out there.
