Cracking job mate. Couple of weeks pointers. The easy fix for the shower. The copper shouldn’t be popping out. It should be cut flush or slightly behind as the copper can stop the connections sitting flush and may cause a leak. The fixings for towel rad. I would have the screw that’s showing facing downwards. Gives it a cleaner look and sometimes can start discolour after time.

Great content. I’m not trying to be a smart ass but when fitting taps to sinks the crescent shaped washer is designed to be used from the top - fed into the tap hole with the lock nut already loosely fitted to the stud. No more fiddling under the sink trying to start the nut. Adjust the crescent washer to clamp the tap correctly. Easy! Looking forward to your next videos.

I've just had my bathroom dot dabbed and skimmed. When running 15mm copper shower mixer pipework in the wall, once the hot/cold pipes are clipped into the raggled sections, what's best to use to fill the raggles in and conceal the pipes? Plaster? Also, should the copper pipe be protectively taped, as I understand the copper can react to certain agents?

With the popularity of cold-plunges, and considering a refrigerator outputs 32-40F (0-4C)... I'd love to remodel a bathroom, such that with a flip of a switch somewhere, 30-minutes later, ice-water will come out of the shower-head (2gallons/min for a few minutes)! Any thoughts if this is do-able , or is a shower's water flow too much for on-demand ice-cold? I'd also like to add heat lamps.. in the winter nothing like getting out of HOT shower, and having a nice warm towel and some heat to dry off!

@aidangallacher904912 күн бұрын
You do It on outside it seals the enclosure up and allows for water to drain. If you did both inside and out the water snagnates and won't drain...go black and mouldy. If you done only inside the water would find it's way over time into the lip of the seal and then drain to the outside

Why is silicone only needed on the outside of the shower screen?
@ZanDeeMan3 ай бұрын
I wondered the same. I assume the logic is to allow water to drain from behind the fixture into the tub. However, I see this an eventual point of failure. Water is extremely resilient at finding ways into everything. So if you don’t silicone the inside, water will certainly work behind it & eventually into the screw holes and into the wall. Personally I’d seal it all or do the opposite approach. Protecting the side exposed directly to water & moisture. Or just load the back of the metal w/ silicone, allowing squeeze out around all edges, then quickly cleaning up and refining the bead. I am interested to hear other’s opinions. Edit: I’m only speaking about the metal fixture supporting the glass, not the glass itself.
@prodical6663 ай бұрын
@@ZanDeeMan I recently re-siliconed my shower and I did indeed silicone the metal and the glass which meets the shower tray. Maybe I wasted some time but I certainly don't feel ive made a mistake which will lead to issues. Better to be overkill right?
@ZanDeeMan3 ай бұрын
@@prodical666 Exactly! I feel like he was actually talking about silicone the bottom of the glass to the tub in the video and it was an editing oversight. Because you definitely want to encapsulate that metal fixture in silicone. Basically anywhere that the "waterproof" membrane of the wall is punctured by fasteners. You also want to make sure you use high-grade silicone rated for bathrooms/showers. Overkill is my approach when it comes to anything structural or waterproofing. I over-build decks, stairs, and I try to add an extra layer or redudancy when patching a roof, installing a shower membrane, etc.
@normiedeathsquad403 ай бұрын
It is to allow drainage, as someone has eluded to above. If you seal behind you have a chance of creating a 'reservoir' of stagnant water inside the shower screen fixture.
@prodical6663 ай бұрын
@@normiedeathsquad40 Ok so with that logic, I believe we should only silicone on the inside of the shower screen? The side the water hits. But he does say we should only silicone the outside... still a bit confused.
