Fitting a Ford 8.8 into a Lexus IS300!

This is a decent overview of my custom install of a Ford 8.8 into my LS Turbo IS300. I did all of the work on this one too, including rebuilding the diff! Its been in the car for about 400 miles and everything works great, I did it! I've never done a diff swap or worked with any Ford parts so it was a learning experience for sure.

Great work! That was cool to see the whole process. The rear looks way clean without the giant spare tire tub. I would consider chopping mine out if the battery wasn't in there!

i love the tires and rims the size is nice no weird rims sticking out past tires .i need to buy a set of rims for dad is300 at it came with leaking chrome junk

Came out real good dewd. Curious to see how your diffuser design ends up. I just picked up a spare stock rear subframe so I can make 8.8 mounts, and possibly a complete replacement chro-moly subframe.

How do you like the 3.31 gears. Im coming from a 3.08 but im torn between 3.31 vs 3.55

I think they are great. I had 3.73 but with my 4 speed auto 80mph was 3k rpm, now its 2600 rpm. 100mph is 3300. Nice cruising gear and 1:1 at 6800rpm is like 160mph, so that's good for me!

What causes axles did you use or can you reuse the us300 shafts

@@mattyboytattoos I bought custom Drive Shaft Shop axles. They were pretty expensive but shouldn't ever break at least

hello bro how are you i need your little help.... i have crown 1994 model with 2jz vvti 3 coil engine with 4 forwad 8wire gear .. kindly tell me which diffrential is best for pick and fuel effeciant?

The stock IS300 diff was really good. I actually never had any issues at all with it. The US model I had (out of a manual) had 3.73 gears in it, and you're pretty limited on what you can change it to, so that was a big reason why I switched to the Ford 8.8. But, yeah, depending on your gearing in the trans, your torque, and what you're trying to do with the car a stock LSD IS300 diff or a stock LSD FRS/BRZ (pretty sure these are 4.11 ratio) could be a really good choice. I don't know how they fit into a 94 Crown though.

I had a quick question did you have to widen the tunnel of the car to fit the 4L80E trans when doing your swap from t56 i have same setup and was curious if i had to mess with the tunnel before i rip my swap apart? Thanks in advance the rear end is sick!!

Yeah about 4" on each side. Check my IG for pics. I dont have a ton posted but I'd reccomend doing it the same way. Turbo_LS_IS300 once the mod is done though it really doesn't matter on the inside as far as comfort and drivability goes.

Great job bro. But can you please tell me what axles you used? I am currently rebuilding my IS. I have a 1JZ VVTI. I really want the 8.8irs. but it's super expensive for me to import the big names. So I got alot of encouragement from your build. Thks and keep up the great work 👍👍👍
