You could fill the holes with RTV to keep any moisture, dirt, etc. out also.

Great idea I just purchased a 1954 GMC 630 fire engine. All original it looks like a rat rod just from time & weather. The door seals are gone I’ll use your method for sure. Also turned my 2 son’s on to your channel . 1 has a 48 chevy short bed doing a S10 frame swop. The other has a 53 chevy short bed both project trucks. Your skill level is awesome! I’m 62 & picking up a lot of cool trips. Thanks

Great way to solve your problem and keep out the wind noise 😂 Someone already said to fill the holes, but I would run a bead of black silicone caulking along both edges of the rubber. ⚡️

Try 3M super weatherstrip adhesive, it is a product I've had some success with. It is kind of like contact cement on steroids. If you can't get it there and I had an address for you I would send you some. Great videos BTW. I've been a hot rodder for over 60 years and I learn a thing or three new and very interesting from practically every one of your videos. Thanks very much for all your effort, and thanks much to your poor beaten up hands!

A razor slit along the outside, where you burnt the hole, will let the screw through, but close up after it's in and seated. But that's too tidy, aye. 😉
