I really love the videos; Phil and Jay together are just brilliant. So many car build series videos are full of swaggering dudebro douchebags telling you how sick everything is, and it's a refreshing change to have videos presented by people who you'd actually enjoy spending time with in real life. Keep up the great work guys.

I'm so glad you guys got on the KZbin train. I am a long standing customer and Forum user from way back in the day. KZbin needs more of this quality content!

A suggestion, make some fine mess shields for under the arches and add louvers (face down) to keep all road debris and rain from the tyres off the condensers, fans and oil cooler.

The difference between you guys and all other car enthusiast videographers is that you actually have talent. Why you don’t have 1 million subscribers is beyond me. Perhaps your work is too intelligent for the average KZbinr who just wants eye candy with no substance. Keep up the good work!! It’s interesting.
@driftworks2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jay, I wouldn't use the words too intelligent. But most people don't have the patience for substantive content on KZbin. It has to be quick-fire and high intensity. We are neither of those things 😂

I saw a small blaupunkt head unit on the table, are you also adding tunes in the 964?

Just fitting a period looking head unit. You can't hear much of the stereo over the engine.

Any update in noise level of that A/C compressor? Was it loud enough to be heard on a hot day and or after you quieted down the exhaust?
@driftworks Жыл бұрын
You can hear it outside the car, it's not loud though.

Any final thoughts on how the electric setup works compared to the original? I've got a backdate 964 here in the shop, and the factory condenser doesn't fit, so this kit is under consideration.
@driftworks2 жыл бұрын
I've used it now. It was very hot over the last weekend and we did hundreds of miles. It's not as good as the standard AC, but it would have been horrible without it.

Why did you choose to go Electric air con over the traditional engine driven setup?
@driftworks2 жыл бұрын
I can't recall exactly what my final justification was for swapping from a perfectly working original AC system. But some kind of combo of looks, weight distribution and intrigue about electric AC.
@theenglishtrucker18492 жыл бұрын
So aircooled engines don't provide heating to the interior of the car. WOW! Never knew that.
@bwm9992 жыл бұрын
They do with the stock exhaust headers which also function as a heat exchanger to warm fresh air which is piped into the cabin.
@ericn76982 жыл бұрын
The heater core usually has engine coolant running through it to provide heated air to the cabin. No coolant in an air-cooled engine means (convoluted) alternatives must be used.
@BeetleBeetleY2 жыл бұрын
Nono; he removed the car's original heating system. They normally have excellent heaters.
