Beautiful car, sounds fantastic and great care and attention to detail when setting it up. One point to note however is that transmitted losses aren't a percentage, they are a fixed amount but can be expressed as a % of the power figure. All that matters is its safe
@driftworks2 жыл бұрын
That makes sense 👍
@Finnspin_unicycles2 жыл бұрын
If you want to be really exact, there are losses that depend on power and some that depend on speed/RPM. Friction in gears/bearings would be power dependent, viscous losses from moving around gear oil (which makes up the most amount of power loss) is speed/RPM dependent, total loss is the sum of both.
@mrsausauge2 жыл бұрын
Indeed. These are not a % loss tho If you double the power of a car the transmitted losses don't double with it hence why its not a percentage loss The losses are mostly in running the actual dyno drag in gear oil isn't going to be much if anything.

Super result 👍 Can you share the specs of the engine? Is it still the original 3.3 pistons and conrods or did you upgrade to some aftermarket ones? 1.4 bar is serious boost on an air cooled engine 😃
@driftworks2 жыл бұрын
Cheers. There's a full spec on the garage page here www.driftworks.com/blog/garage/ . Yeah 1.4bar is a bit much really, but it did still seem happy at that. It will be run at max 1.3bar for now which is the last run we did on the dyno.

I’m not a Porsche guy so I’m curious, in the lower rpm and early on it sounded like there was a hesitation and break up then it cleaned up then it sounded like break up again. Was it just a weird aural trick being played by the gate opening and the screamer bouncing sound of the dyno cell walls?
@davidfreeman44072 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was wondering that as it sounds like a slight miss.
@driftworks2 жыл бұрын
Early on it was before it was tuned. Later on it was possibly the crank sensor break up.

Twin scroll turbo with single non divided wastegate?
@Lou-f2 жыл бұрын
The manafold is twined the turbo isn’t.
@driftworks2 жыл бұрын
It's only twin scroll because that's what the engine design dictates. I thought about changing to dual wastegates, but it's alot of hassle for probably 50rpm increase in spool.
@Piotrowsquad2 жыл бұрын
Were you maxing out the boost control with too lite of a wastegate spring? Or are you not using boost control?
@driftworks2 жыл бұрын
It just didn't feel like it was perfectly holding the pressure we wanted. Putting the extra spring in got us closer to the actual boost we wanted to run, which is always a good idea if you can.
