For future builds: The sealent goes UNDER whatever you are mounting on your van. So in this case you should have put a bead of sealent under your around the edge of the hole you cut. You also should have used cable glands that provide strain relief on your consumer unit and run an earth wire from the external earth coming in to the chassis of your van.

What size screws did you use to fix ti van please.

I don't remember exactly what size they were but they were self tapping screws from Wickes. They only have to pinch through the metal which is about 2mm thick so including the hookup point, the foam gasket and the metal shell anything over about 15mm is plenty as long as it gets a good pinch on the metal. You could always have a wooden template on the inside of the van to screw into to further secure it but it isn't really necessary.
