Glad you installed these, wise choice I think. I have a few chips on the side of my model 3 but it is a very minor issue compared to the Y. The bigger problem is the front bumper. I have a lot of chips, someone just reversed into my car and damaged the front bumper so I will likely use this opportunity to ppf that area after it has been repaired as I do a lot of highway driving.

Thanks for the tip about the Y! The grime build up is so much less with mudflaps too. Easier to clean the side of the car.

Shame about the accident but yes it gives you the opportunity. Where would you buy the PPF kit from?
@aviationboy8

@@notinthemanual not sure yet, I might get the guy who did my ceramic coating to install it. I think it’s about 700-800 for the front end only (almost as much as a new bumper!).

@notinthemanual Жыл бұрын
@@aviationboy8 I guess there is a lot of film if you get the whole front end done. I will most likely fit the rear door pieces just for the experience. Tesla sell those for $85. I’ve bought the EV armour stuff from Amazon before and it was pretty good. A whole front end is a fair bit of work.

@@notinthemanual I will just do the front bumper as 99% of the chips occur there. The entire front end is over 2k from memory, very expensive!

Gidday Matt, Love your videos. No BS honest reviews. Very refreshing. Mate, my wife is very nervous to start driving my Model 3. I remember you did some speed test on a Sydney road. Can you remember the name of that road/? I reckon all she needs is about an hour on a relative empty road. to get the feel of the brakes/acceleration/steering and she will become super confident. If you remember please let me know.

Thanks. I really appreciate the feedback. I’m struggling to get motivated to attack the backlog of editing and reading this helps 😊 I am thinking you mean the quiet back roads I was on for my battery load test. That was Morgan rd at Belrose. The hardest part is getting used to the one pedal driving. The indicator being in the left can be confusing too but other than that I think she will find it easy to drive.

As always, great video of the haloblk products Matt. I've had all of those haloblk products fitted for a while now on my Y. Only thing is the centre console tray attracts a bit of the fur / fluff and because its silicon it sticks to it, but easy enough to wash. Overall very happy with the products and Frank is a champ. Will you be checking out the haloblk floor mats when they arrive?
@notinthemanual
@notinthemanual Жыл бұрын
Thanks Sam. Yes. Frank has some on their way to me 😊 I’m keen to see how practical they are with the removable layer. I agree on the fluff but it’s a trade off as you said & easily cleaned. My product review videos aren’t that popular but I feel they are still worth it. Once I’ve got this car setup how I want it I won’t be doing anymore unless it’s something of technical interest to me. I am happy to support Frank though 👍 He is doing a great job at supporting this product locally.

@@notinthemanual I'd be keen to see what you think about the floor mats also. Our Model Y is due to be delivered in a few weeks (currently stuck on a boat off the coast of QLD) and while it will come with mats, I have heard they are not the best. I have been looking at mats and while I like the molded ones, I also like carpet mats so the Haloblk ones are the best of both worlds.

Thanks again for another great review! I've just ordered the mudflaps for my MY so will see how they go. I've done about 5000km now and can already see a couple of very small stone chips at the bottom of the rear doors, so hoping the mudflaps will help prevent any further damage.
@notinthemanual

Thanks John. I’ve been told PPF is good to use in that area as well as the mudflaps. In Europe I think the model Y comes with PPF fitted there from factory.

@@notinthemanual I actually bought the PPF kit from Aliexpress, but could only fit one side (passenger) as the other side had a bad crease in the film and couldn't use it. I probably should buy another kit! 🙂

I have a review on those in the edit pipeline. They work well with the reflective coating on one side and are much nicer being the lighter colour. I rarely use shades but it’s nice to have them in the car if parking in the sun for long periods.

On your advice I purchased these. After 30 minutes, some scraped and cut fingers, some use of larger screwdrivers etc, I gave up. The clips do not just "pop out". They are there to stay. Once enough force is used to remove them, they are f*^$#ed and can't be replaced. As the haloblack clips don't fit, the mudflaps don't stay on, so you need to replace the original clips and throw the mudflaps away. Only problem is that the original clips are now f)(*^#$ed. This means booking a service with Tesla (and paying for it) to replace the original clips. I guess you made some money by recomending this shit, but you certainly cost me a lot. Well done in f*&^$ing me over.

Hi Dean. I’m sorry you had this experience. These were actually super easy to fit and mine are still going strong even after scraping on speed humps and driving through large puddles in poor weather. I’m not sure what you were doing wrong but there is a risk in fitting accessories yourself. I did my best to demonstrate how this is done which is why I don’t do short form videos as they leave out important information. I don’t appreciate you taking your frustrations out on me. I actually haven’t made any money from HaloBlk reviews and bought those mudflaps myself. You should have messaged me when you first had trouble instead of going further into it and breaking things. I would have dropped everything to give you some advice as I have done for many other people. It’s pretty shit to read something like this when I put so much time and effort into my videos. I often don’t make the earning threshold for KZbin to pay me and have made around $300 off this channel in total since starting which doesn’t even come close to covering my costs. Your comment got held for review by KZbin but I released it so people can learn from this. If something isn’t working out as planned ask for help. I am not doing this for money or fame. I just want to share my knowledge and experience with people.
